Hi there,

On Wednesday, RP stopped working for me thru iTunes. I finally traced it down to the URL being changed. (I have the URL set in iTunes). I think it was something like

http://www.radioparadise.com/musiclinks/rp_128a.m3u

but now I see on the home page links that it's

http://www.radioparadise.com/musiclinks/rp_128-1.m3u

Is it just me, or did the links change after the "Day of Silence"? If so, maybe a note on the home page might be nice for those who have "bookmarks"?

BTW, I'm embarrased that my first post here is about a problem (albeit a minor one). RP is the GREATEST, and I really appreciate everything you're doing to keep the music alive. Time to make another donation...

Yes, we've made some changes -- unconnected to the Day of Silence. Any time you have problems with a bookmarked link, it's a good idea to try one of the links on our front page, which are changed or updated frequently -- as is our listing in the iTunes radio directory, and on the Shoutcast home page.

hello!
there's a little "bug" about the map: it says it's mongolia when i put my mouse on madagascar! not really urging changement to make (moreover you may still be in washington in these moments) but still interesting to know!
otherwise this map is a really good idea!!! it's funny to see that i am of the 2 or of the 300 persons listening to radio paradise in my country!
wish you thousand others listeners!!!
keep on the fight for free broadcasting on internet!!

sorry...on topic!

Actually you remind me of something that is topical. Programs written in the UNIX® paradigm have three primary pipelines to the outside world: 0 - stdin, 1 - stdout and 2 - stderr. The first two are the standard I/O needed to get the garbage in and out. The stderr designation implies error conditions only, but is often used to send both good and bad news, to log files, for example. So yes, I do get 'error' messages saying that things are working fine!

I use a simple shell script to parse the stdout of critical processes, and if they say the wrong thing or don't say anything at all when they should, I'm notified by an SMS message to my cellphone. If Bill was really masochistic, he could set something up that turned on klaxons and red Mars lights through his house whenever his Internet connection is interrupted.

It certainly looked like the lights were out and nobody was home. Linux software tends to be "made by geeks, for geeks", which often means copious b<>error messages. And sometimes they're even useful.

The AAC stream has been stable enough that I often awake to music. Just after the RIAA news broke, I woke up to dead silence. It happens, but this time my first thought was "oh God, they've killed RP already!!!" I really was panicked until I hit the play button and the music returned.

Conection problems. I really have been bragging about RP lately. Is it RP or Octashape? I really have liked the Octashape quality when its working, enough to purchase a Roku Soundbridge for my stereo. The wife is going to be pretty disappointed if a blew money for nothing. Hey, that's a song.
