1. Forget negotiating "reduced" packages for the CEOs. They should get NOTHING. Actually, they oughta have a fine slapped on them. 2. Pelosi needs to NOT ALLOW CONGRESS to go into recess until this is finished. Forget it. You people stick around until the job is done. 3. The Fed Chairman and Wall Street are blatantly BLACKMAILING the Congress, with the backing of the Bush administration. Disgusting. 4. If I had any doubts before that the govt. was owned by big business and the banking industry, they're all gone now. 5. I hope Congress has some balls.
I was so pissed I stayed on the elliptical for over an hour. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why does McCain think he can help by going to DC? The last thing we need is for election politics to distract anyone right now.
- The way I understand it, the CEOs are entitled to every penny they've managed to screw us out of. Why? Because they did not do anything ILLEGAL.
- How on Earth is what they did NOT illegal? Welcome to deregulation, friends. Our government, in its infinite wisdom, decided 'the free market' could regulate itself with virtually no government intervention. Which is not unlike expecting bank robbers to refrain from taking ALL the money in the vault.
- Congress does have balls. The Financial Industry keeps them in a vise, where they can turn the screw once in awhile.

Totally.
Greed. What a force it is. I am truly stunned that people can be so self-serving and heartless to the plight of others. I can't believe I'm the same species as some of these people.

I suspect he didn't read it... but if he did, I certainly hope that #3 is the reason for his reply
I wish it were true. He is also the one who sends the mail scams, such as the one with Bill Gates giving away thousands of dollars if you forward this e-mail - yada yada, and I don't want to burst his bubble.
I think I'll send him a LOLCAT and act like it never happened...
Now I really need help! I copied this post (separately pasted the link too) and sent it to a friend of mine who sends me his best right wing e-mail messages and he replied with this:
I hope you didn't reply to this e-mail as I believe its a scam to get all of your account numbers and to remove money not to put money in.
I feel badly now because I don't think understands it's a parody of the Nigerian or 419 scam. What should I do?
Confess that its a sarcastic joke.
Ignore him this time and hope he forgets it.
Consider him to have suddenly become more sarcastic than I am.

I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude. I am Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of 800 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you. I am working with Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of the Treasury in January. As a Senator, you may know him as the leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the 1990s. This transactin is 100% safe. This is a matter of great urgency. We need a blank check. We need the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family lawyer advised me that I should look for a reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred. Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive that information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds. Yours Faithfully Minister of Treasury Paulson —

can't see that working, but it would be amazing how much money you'd get together.
Why ask? Random capital tax? Public would be in favour (you'd never get foreign bankers back though!)

I was just looking for something else and discovered that Henry Paulson's worth 700 million. All we have to do is find 999 more like him and wring 'em out!
Or let him wring out millions of us. Did you know he was CEO of Goldman Sachs when they advised Montana Power to get out of the power business and into the telecom boom? Wonder how that turned out... Edit: Yes I was off by a factor of 10. Find a thousand Hank Paulsons and we're done.
