Personally I don't really think that is his problem in the South. They don't believe that he truly hates liberals and loves the bible enough, I don't think they mind that he is Mormon pe se, just that he is not religious enough and gungho on the social issues. I really think that is his problem.

CNN has an article about how Mitt's religion is causing him real problems in the South. I do not understand why anyone is surprised by this.

I've found most "successful" people have some form of neurosis (perfectionism, lack of self worth, ocd, impulsiveness...) that drives that need for success - I don't think i ever met a successful person whose lifestyle I've envied.  The trick is finding the right mix of neurosis in a leader.
