he definitely has some serious talent on the guitar. i remember the crossroads thing...but his song writing and breathy singing bugs me.

i wish him luck with that. i don't think he's done anything interesting in years and years. and even then, it kind of wore me out. but that's just my opinion. YMMV.

That's exactly what I thought of him after reading about his being a loud-mouthed evangelist for self-flaggelation gratification. I thought, "That's swell, John... now how about STFU and recording some music that might interest someone?"

he's kind of had the rep for being a complete tool for years now, especially when it comes to women/sex and spouting off about both.

One night, they were standing outside the car, so, of course, I engaged them in conversation and learned that yes, indeed, they were surveilling "the area" (as they put it — they never mentioned his name) around the clock, and that I shouldn't worry, because everything was all right. There was another such SUV post at the other end of the block; so, our friends who live in that immediate area said they'd never felt more safe! All this happened the day after he announced his retirement.

The bodyguards are gone now, but there are barricades set up on the street, and even on the sidewalk; but I walked over there at 1 a.m. on Friday night, and there is the most massive and poignant floral and graphic and written-note and pictorial display you can imagine. His house is on the corner, and the dsplays flow out from the corner, down both sides of the fence that border both front sides of his property. It's very, very beautiful and touching! One of my favorite graphics left there reads simply "iSad." Lovely, and yes, sad. He was an icon, the likes of which we may not see again in our lifetimes. But, for all his fame and wealth, he lived simply and very much like the average man. RIP, Steve."

I recorded it and will probably watch it tonight.
