I'm with you on most of these. I actually have tried hard to practice most over teh course of the last years. Local restaurants are generally better (and almost always more fun). Wall mart sucks, Look at the full stream costs of your purchase, your consumerism is killing you. The important term in real estate is the 1st word. We all need less stuff in our house (can you park in your garage?).

I'll continue on the high road, the view is better up here. Smart is still cool.

No. I saw it long ago and I liked it in it's own strange way. But if you read the book, you will come to understand that Tyler Durden is actually the creation of an unwell mind which, although a reaction to life lived out of balance, is basically acting out insane solutions to terrible problems. In the book, the character played by Edward Norton goes into an insane asylum to hide from the army of "project mayhem" operatives whom Tyler had created so he wouldn't be forced to help them destroy the world.

I don't want to destroy the world. I want to change it. I want to change the world by changing me. I know that by changing me I HAVE changed the world. If I can do it, others can do it.

No. Leary was selling a form of cop-out. He told people that if they took this drug, it would solve all their problems and they wouldn't have to work anymore.

What I say is that we cannot have integrity if we don't work at it. It is harder to live this way than to "go along" with the program of conformity which is turning common Americans into nothing more than consuming units designed to generate money for the holders of the Corporations. Don't be a coppertop. Don't just sit there and make others rich while your life is spent in an uncomfortable haze.

Living life in a present-moment awareness is hard.

And there are no drugs involved. That doesn't lend itself to integrity. To be whole people we must treat our bodies and ourselves like we are our own best friends.

Lastly, I don't believe in "dropping out". I believe in non-cooperation. I won't be a consumer who buys unnecessarily or greedily consumes more than he needs. I won't allow the mass media to lie to me and let me go to sleep to the drone of their voices. I will do my daily job as it needs to be done. I won't allow my work-place to compromise my integrity, however, even if this means losing the job. There are worse things than temporary poverty. My house is filled with nice furniture but the only things I purchased in it are two bookshelves. Everything else was given to me or retrieved from discarded property. The only other thing is my bed and I made that myself. I incur no un-necessary debt and now I am declaring that I am going to clear myself of all debt if I can as fast as I can and never live in debt again. I won't pay interest upon my life and energy.
