But really, fans and players (and owner) all seem to think Yanks belong in the post-season every goddamn year. TV has a wet dream dreaming up NY-LA World Series. Steinbrenner has a fit when Yanks fall behind by a few games - in the first week!

Here's the bottom line: Dynastes are bad for business. There are 31 other teams out there and it's nice to spread the love around. Yanks' attitudes is just asking to be dissed.

Shit - My man CC Sabathia is going on the DL after 3 IP!

Zep, you just hit the nail on the head of something I totally neglected to mention.
George Steinbrenner. God, I love to see that man lose. Most Yankee fans I know can't stand him.
If there's a bigger asshole in sports, please stand up.

Sit down Al. Yeah you're a renegade, and all the other NFL owners hate you, but your team sucks so they don't despise you. In terms of pure assholiness, you're not worthy of carrying George's used Tucks.

I could be a baseball fan if the games weren't on every day of the week. For me, it's kind of like watching 24. I catch five minutes of that show once a month and I swear it's the same five minutes every time.

Well, they prolly felt bad for your sorry ass getting kicked all over the field...
Seriously, you wouldn't get the same treatment in a Sox uni - that basically says "Beat The Shit Out Of Me Please!".
Totally different, but glad you had a good time.

Saw a couple Sox/Cards WS predictions, both with Cards winning. I guess I'll be pulling for your boys, I am kinda loaded up with 'em in Fantasy.
Maybe I'll get a chance to make that trip to St Lou with you yet...

I like the Injuns this year too, lotta talent and I see them in the AL championship.

Guy's an idiot for wearing it in public and will likely end up in the hospital. I have a Yankees Suck shirt, I'm smart enough to keep it in the closet most of the time.

I like the Yanks fans in this forum and anything I say is in good fun, there's no meanspiritedness behind it directed at you. Tell ya what though, I have met quite a few Yanks fans in 40+ years who are absolute obnoxious assholes and do "lord the rings".
I fired one a couple years ago.
I've had friends get the shit beat out of them on the streets of NYC for the crime of wearing a Red Sox hat or shirt, have personally seen this. Same shit happens in Boston, there is no hype when sports guys talk about this being the biggest rivalry in sports - it simply is.
The people in the cities don't like each other, the teams don't like each other, and it gets pretty well heated. I grew up in it.

As for A-Rod, I do not like him, never have never will, I think he's a whiny overpaid choke artist and none of his teams have won a Series, including a loaded Seattle team who set the alltime record for regular season victories and a stupid Texas team who gave him $25 mil a year. I was overjoyed when the trade for Manny didn't go through, and though we'll never know, I'd be willing to bet a small fortune that the Sox don't win in 2004 if it had.
Perhaps I shouldn't call him Gay-Rod anymore, I don't wish to offend any of the fine folks here by lumping the likes of his sorry ass into their community...

Can we not have some respect for these men that play the sport (and their talent) even if they don't play for your team?

I grew up with a very healthy love of sports, both as a viewer and a competitor, but I have never been one to talk sh*t about another team OR players on another team (unless it's someone like a T.O. in football that has brought it on himself with his behavior).

It's unfortunate, but I've stopped poking my head into this forum because people just get so MEAN about other teams and players on other teams. I rarely come in here anymore because most of the time, I'm ready to bash someone over the head for being such a jerk about things. Not sure what you mean by MEAN, don't really see it here.

Anything I've put in here is analysis based on fact - this year's team is long in the tooth and the pitching staff's in shambles. In today's transactions, Pavano, Dotel, and Small all went on the DL... not boding well at the start of the season, and the usual suspects who are always sucking hind teat to the Yanks aren't too depressed about their situation.
Nuff said.

Now this is mean:

Wouldn't wanna be caught wearing one a those in NYC

Tip O' the Red Sox cap to rolf for that one, it's nice to see even people in Frankfurt smackin' the Yanks...

Oh yeah, and the Sox look pretty good.
At least on paper...

See, but that's what I'm saying... I am a born and raised Yankee fan (as many of the folks around here know), and I get SO sick of all the Yankee-bashing that happens. The team that everyone else loves to hate. I don't bash the Sox, I don't bash anyone, I just cheer for my own team without maliciousness towards others. Part of being a TRUE fan of any sports team is taking the bad playing with the good playing (hey, I'm a Giants fan during the football season, I know all about taking bad with the good).

And although I don't lord our 26 championships over any team (or anybody), it is the ONE thing I'll pull out when someone starts to get REALLY mean about things.
