Just after BillG played Love Song by the Cure, my HDD came up with its reggae lite cover by 311 (Which is not bad at all, even though it reminds me of some trouble and strife at the time) |

You're in The Twilight Zone!
My ipod once played a song by Rusted Root, then the live version of the same song, then a different song by a different artist, but with the same title.

I was working on a physics problem in college, and listening to Court of the Crimson King. There's all that noodling in the middle with the calliope sounds and I'm working feverishly on my problem, not knowing how to solve it.
The music stops for a second, and the answer to the problem suddenly dawns on me. Then that little coda comes crashing in with the drum and the mellotron and the voices DAHHHHHHH, dah dahhhh da dahhhh.... and it was like this ultra cool soundtrack to my life. Sweet. |

The Associates - Boys Keep Swinging Midge Ure - The Man Who Sold The World Divine Comedy - Life On Mars Ian McCulloch - The Prettiest Star
...and I am a big Bowie fan, yet there's only 2 cover CD's so far on the HDD...
And, while I posted this BillG is playing the original Life On Mars... Anyone saw the TV series? Or it's follow up "Ashes To Ashes"?
Yeah, I don't like the sequel as much as I did the original, though. The idea of naming TV series after David Bowie songs kind of appeals to me. Of course we already have a series named "Heroes" in the US but I was trying to think of series ideas I could pitch to a network or production company that use Bowie song titles. One about an auto company like Chrysler going broke ("Panic in Detroit"). Another about feminist activists ("Suffragette City"). About British trainspotters ("Station to Station"). An update of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" with a new actress in the lead role ("A New Career in a New Town"). One about NASA engineers ("Tin Machine"). You get the idea.
Everyone: name a TV show after a David Bowie song! Let's play. |
