It's just the perversity of the universe. It's a Law of Thermodynamics or something, and it probably is just entropy, anyway.
Anything perverse has something to do with thermodynamics, because Sadi Carnot, J Willard Gibbs, Kelvin, Helmholtz, and Clausius were all perverts.
