The problem has nothing to do with ADE on your PC. The problem is causes by incorrect authorization information in the Adobe folders on your Nook.

- As you have re-installed ADE on your PC make sure you did authorize your PC. In ADE use CTRL-SHIFT-I to check your authorization information.

 - Delete the 2 Adobe folders on the Nook

- Eject and disconnect your Nook from your PC

- Start ADE on you PC.

- Connect the Nook to your PC again.

- ADE will ask you to authorize the Nook.

sweet!!!  thank you!
edit:  it worked!!

"ERROR DIALOG: user not activated."

any other nook users out there seeing this come up out of nowhere?  i have tried twice to borrow e books from the library, and this is what i get when i try to open them.  any suggestions??  there was an update recently, but i doubt that would have made it so that i can't use the library anymore...

I made the mistake of taking a nap the other day and got woken by a telemarketer from my mobile phone provider wanting to sell me an iPad.
I vaguely recall saying yes to something. Let's see how this pans out...

i have limited gadgets. macbook & regular mobile phone (not an iphone or smartphone). so, it'd be nice to have a e-reader.

I have my kindle on my iPad so eliminating one bit of equipment.

I prefer nookie though!

I am really learning to love my kindle fire. I just uploaded my employment history pdf so that it is easily accessible. In the past I would always be carrying that wrinkled sheet of paper with me, this way I can just access my kindle.

It has three different "modes" - black on white, grey on sepia, and white on black.

so we went and looked at the nook simple touch last night. i love it. it's exactly what i want.  nothing fancy...i have an i phone for apps and internet access when i am away from home. i love the way this device can synch with my public library system, and i can borrow ebooks for free without having to drive down town and try to find parking where there is none....(okc downtown library is beautiful and wonderful, but has NO PARKING LOT OR GARAGE!)
so....decision made.

The Kindle Fire does - the standard Kindle does not.

Remember they make several different models the Fire is the only one that offers color.
