Late last summer, I brought home a 'guest' on a newly purchased Dill plant, after a bit of online research, I decided to attempt to witness this metamorphosis myself. Gertie, as I came to call her, was a late summer caterpillar and would likely stay in chrysalis (stasis) throughout the cold winter months and emerge in the Spring. Well, After months of dusting off her jar, guess who decided to make her debut today... 9 month stasis and she's out in seconds! Happy first flight Gertie girl!
