I'm in full agreement with the brilliant sentiment of this post, but I'm afraid it completely destroyed the thread...

I have a 1600 pixel wide monitor and I still have to use the horizontal scroll-bar to read the right edge of most threads. I'm using Debian Linux and Google Chrome. I'm not sure when it started happening.

Bill, I think you should remove this 'rule' from the forum guidelines, since you obviously don't mean it.

A big thanks and shout out to you Dave.

I went out and bought some of those traps on Wed. afternoon, put them out and I haven't seen a single ant in the last day and a half.  You da man Dave.

The ants you are seeing are likely scout ants. If they see something they like they will leave a chemical trail so all their buddies can come visit too. There are a bunch of products that work on that principle and I think most of them work fairly well.  Once they find you though nothing else will and how long it takes to work may depend on how big the colony that found you is.

Not a lot at any time but I can usually see 2-4 ants on the clean kitchen counter.  I'll kill those couple and a few hours later there are 2-4 more walking around.

And I cannot figure out where they are coming from.
