Absolutely.    I was addressing the tempting tendency to 'drift,' as per your comment. Thus the need for guidelines.  

True, but the general consensus here (on RP) is that if you start a forum, you can set the guidelines for it and try to keep the discussion within those guidelines. It's a self-policing system, granted, but most folks are respectful of it.

 Honestly? None of us really have any rights to judge each other. We can't stop 'lively' discussion, *cough*cough*, but we can at least attempt less knee jerk defensive responses or submit to the temptation to assume, judge and prosecute on every thread we come across. Not easy to do - but most of us try. 

Nonsense... no one is at fault, threads drift, and your comment about the possibility of a new brain mapping program was on topic, IMO. Besides, if you take credit, then I can't blame SD and HC.

My dad was officially diagnosed with Alzheimer's last month.  My brother "B" is spending a lot of time taking care of him, he's had to cancel a surgery dad was scheduled to have this month that would have cleared up dad's problems with incontinence because dad is too weak to survive the operation.  I'm not sure he's going to get better.  He's developed bed sores and doesn't notice them.  My brother "G" was talking to dad the other day and after he left, dad said, "That was a nice young man, what was his name?"  After almost choking I told dad, "His name is G" and dad didn't even recognize his own son's name.

Not in here, it isn't. I created this forum so we'd have a quiet, calm place to discuss end of life issues- the family/emotional/personal side of it, not the political side of it. If you'd like to create a new forum for the political aspects of end-of-life care, that would be cool too, but this space is about emotional safety and support. Thanks.
