I hope we'll be fine.  My apologies for teeing off on you.  I should have known that was your intention.  But at that point, I stopped thinking and was just reacting.  I just saw another hate attack on all things political at RP.  A button got pushed and you didn't know you were pushing one.  You're not that kinda guy.

As I've already mentioned, I've cut back on participating here in the poly stuff.  I used to think that there was no harm in asking questions and taking doubtful positions just for the sake of learning and seeing if I could defend a position that I may not agree with.  I have learned more than anyone would believe doing so.  In real life, I only have one bleeding heart liberal that I can converse with on poly thoughts.  He's a white Jewish guy who used to belong to SNIC, that is until Jesse Jackson threw out the white guys.  He grinds an axe when it comes to Jackson because of that.  We have some damn good discussions and in the end we agree as much as we disagree.  We each get to make the other go aha ! every once in a while.  But we are discussing things based upon points and issues, not with the assumption you suck because you are a  ...  We respect each other as human beings, and sometimes use exagerations to make an opening point and then refine from there.

I still wish to learn.  The more I learn, the more I find out that I don't know.  Learning is hard work and not without risks.

I feel that if I stop learning that I might as well die.

I think Coaxial was telling you to step away from the computer because you are way too enrolled. How many hours a day do you think about what you are going to say when you are away? 

When I find myself getting too insulting/insulted, I step away, because this isn't real life, you aren't going to change anything. Politics and religion are just about something to talk about, like sports and cooking shows. No need to bust a vein over it. 

You're reading way too much into my post.  Not taking anything to the point of tears, threatening anyone with bodily harm, wishing ill will or anything else of untoward behaviour.  I play the devil's advocate at times.  I argue for points that I may not necessarily agree with just to offer some counterpoint to some unchallenged notions that deserve to be challenged.  Got to be pretty thick skinned to do that.  Sometimes people are left defending positions they don't agree with.  When in formal debate, one does not always get the luxury of defending a position that they agree with.

How does one make a point without saying my side / your side in the nature I was talking ?   Everyone is too F'ing literal.  That's why there cannot be any discussions.  What is the 3rd side when one is talking right / left ?  Don't try laying the middle as the 3rd side.  We are talking about ideologies.  Its broadbrushed because its the only way to begin talking.

We are all on the same side ?  And what side is that ?  That's no different from saying there are only two sides. 

It's the "our side" "their side" in Kurt's last post that's most telling. Guess what, Kurt: We're all on the same damn side. Instead of looking at this like some sort of combat you have to win or get pushed to near tears over when someone dismisses your conspiracy theory, why not treat it more like a party conversation. Nobody wants to be the guy who can't control his temper or inadvertently insults others in the room, so just try to measure your words a little more and take all of it a LOT less personally.

Vicious ?  Regarding the poly thread haters ?  Sometimes, yes.  Not as a rule, but occasionally. 

I'm not denying that the poly threads have gotten vicious within and by the participants towards each other.  I don't see much of that anymore.

I've cut way back on my participation lately FWIW.  There seems no point.  Its all pretty much one sided.  Predictable.

Figured I would put up something about corruption that is beyond party and even it turned into the usual you're just an Obama hater.  Its not about corruption, its merely incompetence.  I even offered up it goes back into Bush and 2004.  No matter, I'm just out tilting at Obama, Holder and windmills.  I say everyone wants to sweep it under the rug, so then I'm a conspiracy theorist.

Its politics = evil if its not of liberal bent.  Its ok if it's liberal.  I've only made a couple of comments in the Romney / Ryan thread and they were hardly serious.  Especially when I saw the return of one of my old buddies.  Not even going to even bother.  I'd rather put my head in a vice.

And now I've been advised that I should direct my energies away from here and into the community where I live.  Go away and not irritate people with my diatribes.  Because someone came in here said something and I disgreed with him he left complaining about his blood pressure after 10 minutes because someone had the nerve to disagree with him.  So now I'm causing people bodily harm by being here forcing them to click into something they know that they may find something that they do not agree with.  No different than Romney causing Mrs. Soptic's death from cancer 6 years after her husband lost his job.

I think that I've been pretty reasonable for some time here.  I've put up some broadbrush stuff for conjecture, but its been self identified and basically calm.  I've pretty much lost interest and hope of there ever being any real poly discussions here anymore.  Its all predictable, myself included.  Even some of those who play the middle road are just laying in wait playing bait and switch.  How can it ever go any other way ?  So why bother ?

I lurked most of the past week and saw the poly threads off the raft for the most part and when they did pop up, it was nothing more than the usual repub bashing.   Show me your tax returns.  Nothing new to participate in.  Its all one sided.  Their side is just incompetent, my side is corrupt.  Their side is totally plugged into reality, my side wears tin foil, causes cancer and pushes old ladies off of cliffs.    There is no middle ground.  Now we have red meat with Ryan, yet its all predictable, so why bother commenting.  Its why I went to here, which has laid quiet for a month, until something newsworthy came up.  I actually care about this subject.  Just as much as I do about our borders and F&F is directly related to the borders.  I am being consistent with my convictions.

This reply is just a reply (with admitted hyperbole as I'm a little teed off).  Not directed at you.  Its just my explanation to you.  You're a voice of reason here.  I appreciate that.  You don't call people out unless there is a valid reason.

Well yeah.It makes the place unpleasant to be around and most of the good people have been driven off by the constant vicious hatred exhibited by a few people.
 Fewer people available to be assaulted= less prey for the vicious predators who try to force their ideology upon others.

seriously? vicious? nothing is more long standing and vicious than the way people have gone at each other in the poli-threads.
come on kurt. all anyone wants is the discussions to be civil and respectful.
