Cool! You live right up the river from me. Glad for the rain today; our gardens could use some fresh rainwater. Hallo from God's country. {#Sunny}

Sierra Leone: One man's tale of war and recovery

Suleiman Turay

By the end of the Sierra Leonean civil war, Suleiman Turay was destitute and had witnessed his father being beaten to death. Now he is a successful businessman, husband and father. The BBC's Ed Davey reports how one man bounced back from scarcely-imaginable horrors.

My hope that I would be invited to demo my art at the International Quilt Show in Houston (lemme brag here a moment- it's the most heavily-attended convention in the city, with 60K visitors through the doors during the week-long event) has been granted! I've been offered multiple 2-hour sessions. What this means is that I'll get to set up in front of the event host's booth on the convention floor and demonstrate art techniques for folks who want to come and stand, chat, ask me questions, watch, and participate. Last year, I did two sessions and it was one of the most fun things I've ever done in my life. Lots of artists, lots of buzz, lots of spirited energy. I can't wait!

Au contraire. It's about apparently not giving a rat's ass about those outside the asylum (which does not refer to the trope 'our troops'). Almost everybody in the asylum loves 'our troops'. It's what is expected.
