I had the same dream twice this week(and I rarely dream at all),Pops had me shave his upper lip with disposable razor, which makes no sense since he shaves himself even though his hands are so shaky from ataxia he has to use an electric. |

I've been uncharacteristically stressed lately about these seminars I'm giving this week. I'll be speaking in front of a group I've never worked with or met before, but that's not totally unusual. Both events are back to back with a lot of driving involved, and that's a little unusual. But I think the biggest thing is that I've tried to explain this particular technique I'm lecturing on to quilters before, and they've looked at me like I've sprouted horns. I'm a little freaked out about the prospect of two different rooms full of older, traditional quilters, staring back at me for an hour, very obviously wondering why they signed up for the damned speech.
So last night, I had this dream where some of my oldest and sweetest arty/quilty friends and I were all working for the same organization together. We were moving into new offices, and while they had all been working together for a while, I was new to the group. I was unpacking my arty stuff for my office (which was an awful lot like a demo space, weirdly), and everyone kept coming by and oooh'ing and ahhhh'ing about the finished work I was unpacking (the work that is, probably not so coincidentally, exactly the work I'll be showing in my seminars this week.) There was a lot of discussion about needing to do more of this work (when I moved last year and packed up my studio, I pretty much stopped using the technique and haven't been able to get back into the swing of using it since) and showing it, selling it, teaching it, etc. It made me feel really good- and confident.
All of a sudden, I'm not so freaked out anymore, and I think the seminars will go well. |

I've mentioned it a couple of times- Pumpkin's been making nocturnal visits to my dreams.
In one terrible dream, she had fallen out of a tall, narrow window, many stories into the air, and was hanging on by one paw, looking back in at me with that expression she always had when she needed something from me, begging me to save her. The window was too narrow for me to reach her and I knew she would fall. Woke up panting and sweating, and crying.
In a better dream, she came to me when I was sitting on a couch in a coffee shop. I was reading the paper, and she jumped up next to me and then just stood there looking at me, the way she did when she wanted attention. For a couple of seconds, I ignored her ("Not now, Biddle, I'm reading the paper!") But then I suddenly realized that she was dead in real life, and that if I didn't take advantage of her visit, I might not get another chance, so I put the paper down and snuggled with her. After a few minutes, she got restless and wanted to be put down, so I put her on the couch. She hopped off and walked away and disappeared. I was so grateful to have seen her.
In last night's dream, I opened a box, and there she was. Again, she let me snuggle her for a little while and then jumped down from my arms and wandered away.
She passed away in the middle of February and it still feels like it happened yesterday. I can't believe how much I still miss her, and how much it still hurts.

As i'm picking a new Avatar, i'm looking at the pic and suddenly realize how spooky that pic is. It's from a High School ID and got worn out and damaged over the years. I had a dream years ago (after spending too much time playing Doom & Wolfenstein ). I was inside this building, had a gun in my hand. I wanted to get out but i knew someone out there was waiting for me. So i slowly slide out the front door, looking across the street and to my left and right. Nothing. Suddenly, i realize i forgot to look at the upper floors in the building across the road. No sooner than i though that, a sniper in one of the windows gets me right in the left temple. I could feel the warm blood ooze down my face as i spoke my last words, "Lord, into thy hands i commit my spirit".

My last thought before going under was "better take a big breath" and I did. I then had that really vivid dropping feeling you sometimes get in dreams where I fell for eternity into the depths but when it stopped I still had enough air and I felt strangely ok and resurfaced shortly thereafter and thought, I'd better go and check on the family.
So I guess it's kind of good news.
