BHD just gave me the quickest, cheapest solution before I go out of town. Put water in a dish under the food bowl. They will not cross the water barrier. I'll deal with chemicals when I get home.

apply between fridge, stove, etc

i spray counter tops with vinegar too, i don't think they like it

What is the most successful eradicator of those teeny-tiny ants (that keep invading my cat's food wherever I keep moving it)?
 
My housemate gave me the sticky stuff that they're supposed to eat and take back to the colony to poison them (I called it the Jim Jones treatment - heh) and apparently that wasn't deadly enough.
 
I've tried the spikes you put in the ground around the perimeter of the home for carpenter ants, and I'm wondering if they'll work - these bastards seem to be residing in the southern walls.
 
My housemate also said the "ant hotels" didn't work either.

Given this and that the presentation is tomorrow, your friend really has no choice but to stand back. Otherwise, the presentaqtion itself turns into a tug-of-war, which would not be good for anyone — especially the new hires.

But she can be strategic when she does get a chance to talk — the other person can't stop her from talking, especially at the end. And when that chance comes, your friend could say something like: "Ella covered much of what I was going to go over with you today, so I'll just take a few minutes to fill in some gaps (even better, to be able to highlight some corrections or clarifications).   

Unfortunately that person tends to be a bit too hands-off.

Tomorrow she's supposed to be making a presentation to a class of new hires. She knows the material inside and out, she's a good presenter, and she's probably not going to get the chance to say word one. She's been asked to partner with someone (let's call her Ella) who's been there longer, fancies herself a bigger expert, has the flexibility of an iron bar, and shares in a way that is very not. 

I suggested my friend talk to Ella and work out who was going to present what. That way no one would take over the whole thing. The response was "don't worry, I've got it all planned out". Basically Ella sees this as her presentation, and has no intention of sharing it. She pretty much figures my friend will kind of stand there and nod, I guess.

Any suggestions?

Your friend should speak to the person who asked her to do the joint presentation beforehand to clarify which portion she will give and which portion her partner will be presenting.
