Here in Indiana, we've had over a month of rain, cold and snow. Record rain. Rain seemingly everyday. Today was about 70 and brilliantly sunny. This is the first day I've been able to open the window next to my computer since last fall. It's getting chilly now with nightfall, but I just can't bear to close it yet. Tea should warm me some but what warms me the most is being able to sit here with RP and a fresh breeze. Besides, I doubt I could pry my cat from the windowsill. I needed this with all that is going on right now. I've had a difficult last two months but tonight I can forget that for a bit and just chill. There is nothing so small, yet so good.

As you may have guessed from my name, I'm a motorcyclist. I have been for 27 years now. Last May, the law of averages caught up with me when a kid with a cell phone glued to his ear turned in front of me. He was going to McDonald's. I hit the side of his car, destroying my bike and severely damaging my right shoulder. Nine months later, NINE MONTHS, I've finally been cleared to ride again in another 5 weeks. Nine months of surgery, physical therapy, pain, inconvenience and creating a burden on my wife and co-workers. I've had the bone shaved off, tied together and all my tendons replaced by harvested ones. I can't donate blood until next summer. I can't lift more than 10 lbs. still. I want to ride again but I'm scared in a way. I want his head on a platter to match the fish sandwich he was so concerned about. I want my life back. I want the laws to change. I want my wife to let me do things like mow the yard and change a lightbulb without ...
