To start with a few apologies, to Buzz for overexposed photos (new camera, not figured it out yet). To all the photos and people missed out here- we took something like 800 photos. I haven't really named names here to give people some privacy. To me for being an idiot and not abandoning the kids more so that I could take more quirky shots of things that interested me like great shop fronts and that amazing ice cream in Cody. It is so difficult to collect my thoughts on our trip to the states. The kids will tell you that it was awesome (which it was) and big (which it really, really was). I found the contrast between funky Seattle with it's coastal location and jogging, bean sprout eating populace sort of made sense because we drove from there to Yellowstone. It is strange to think that whilst culturally and historically this feels "new" (if we just ignore the huge tradition of the original population) and yet the ... So the girls took our bikes to Shannon and cycled up through Clare, Galway (Connemara) and Mayo. Best bits: Very warm people. Lots of pubs Guinness (not my best bit but the others said it was great). Fabulous scenery- sea, mountains and bogs Attractive small towns with shops painted in deep rich colours Irish swearing- bejaysus and shite Lovely food Bervie on Achill island (my absolute fave place to stay ever) The road from Leenane to Louisburgh past Delphi lodge (ironically the scene of one of the nastiest stories of the Irish potato famine) Worst bits: The weather Cranky knees England having a heatwave whilst we- weren't Southfork style bungalows springing up all over the place due to cruddy planning laws Signs of economic troubles ![]() ... Not a patch on Johray's photos but a little record of what a friend and I saw on 8 days cycling around the Netherlands (we did about 600km I think). Unfortunately I don't seem to have any photos of the amazing Kroller Muller museum and the surrounding national park apart from the spectacularly phallic hunting lodge.
