I am just wondering...

Has anyone had experience with depression - I switched from Effexor XR to Cymbalta back in May, & by July, I felt that I was really struggling with every day things.   My prescriber retired in the middle of the change.  Though a lot has happened - situattional.   Relationship change, my mom's ongoing chemo for lung cancer, I injured my feet & have been out of work for about 7 weeks, now (they are getting better)....
My days tend to fluctuate pretty drastically - a good day, a day of frustration/depression, an o.k. day...  sometimes praying just to get through the next minute.    It sucks.   My therapist thinks that part of this is due to the medication change... beyond situational.  My new prescriber is not calling me back in an hurry to consider switching back to the first medication effexor.  Just if anyone has experience with these particular medications, I'd ...

... ... Men" I picked up a magazine this morning & there was the aforementioned article... I thought it, oh, I don't know- ... humorous & sweet. (David Granger ,editor in chief of Esquire answers a few questions) -

Why do we get angry when cut off in traffic?

"Two things. Testosterone is one. The automobile is the other. See, we have this fight-or-flight thing programmed into our DNA, and when another male of the species challenges us, we are coded to get our hackles up. {The other is the automobile! Don't be messin' with my wheels.}"

Is everything really about sex?

"Well, no. I mean yes. Sex is one of the reasons we're together, you & I - us. Is there anything more life affirming?... So the answer is no, not everything. And the answer is yes, a part of everything, if we're lucky, is about sex."

What do men really like about women most?

"Oh, Jesus. We love it when you ask us for advice about ...

China estimates 4,000 children orphaned in quake

By CHRISTOPHER BODEEN, Associated Press WriterThu May 22, 2:18 AM ET

Last week's deadly earthquake in China has created more than 4,000 orphans, a Chinese official said.

But Chen Kefu, the deputy director for civil affairs in hard-hit Sichuan province, warned at a news conference Wednesday that it will take time to determine the real number of parentless children because of the large number of people still missing and displaced.

The May 12 quake has killed more than 41,000 people and left more than 5 million homeless.

Thousands of Chinese have called government offices and posted their pleas online to adopt an orphan from the quake.

"Every day my ministry receives hundreds of calls," Jiang Li, China's vice minister of civil affairs, told a news conference Tuesday.

The earthquake also robbed many parents of their children, many of whom were killed when their schools collapsed. Chinese ...

My son, the non-traditional student, graduates from the local community college next week. He has maintained a 4. GPA, is involved in work study at the college library, and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I am so very proud of him. Partly because of these accomplishments BUT even more so for the young man he has become & continues to evolve into.

He was nominated by school faculty for a $30,000 college scholarship. He learned a few weeks ago that he was not awarded. He was encouraged to and did apply to Cornell, Columbia, Brown, Williams, Wheaton, Wesleyan, The Harvard Extension School at Cambridge, & a few others. Admission Committee correspondence letters have been dwindling in. Transfer student acceptance, it seems, is at an all time low. Approximately 15% of transfer students applying are being accepted. Williams accepted only seven transfer students. So far, he has received cordial non-acceptance letters... ...

it's like I am trying to get from point "C" to point "G"~ avoiding like hell, points "D", "E", & "F"...
As a wise man once told me, "Simple does not equate to Easy". The answer, I know, is so pure & simple...

All I want to do is stay sane & get to "G".

A very short story...
Posted: Oct 17, 2007 - 4:50am
This is a story about four people~
Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, & Nobody.
There was an important job to be done;
Anybody could have done it. Everybody
thought that Somebody would do it. But
Nobody did! (OOPS)

I read this in the Speak Out section of our local paper. Someone submitted it under the title; At Work, Recently. I thought it was simple enough to remember & to remind "us" not to assume- nor pass the buck- but rather to COMMUNICATE.

... just some random attempt to try to confuse me, I guess.

Mr. B.
Posted: Sep 21, 2007 - 7:04am
Mr. B. is a local who I've known since I was a little girl. He's has owned & operated small local businesses ever since I can remember. Such as the ONE little country store where locals could go in, pick up a few items, & on their "word" (& his hand written "So & So OWES" _____ list) could pay for the items come pay day.

He must be near seventy years old by now. He & his wife had five children. Over some recent years, he lost both his wife and youngest child- a daughter, in less than a year; his wife to lung cancer, his daughter unexpectedly. She was only 34 years old and collapsed getting out of the shower at her home; by the time the ambulance arrived, she was gone. A few years later, his youngest son was sent to prison for 18 months, and just about a year & a half ago, his only living daughter who was in her mid. forties had a stroke which left her blind, with impaired speech, & facial "palsy".

Yesterday, I started into his little ...

My little dog wakes me to let him out so that he can wiz at the most ungodly hours. What does one do when they are woken & can not fall back to sleep? This day, I pondered those real facts written inside the caps of Snapple bottled drinks...

Holland is the only country with a national dog

A crocodile cannot move its tongue

Honeybees navigate by using the sun as a compass

Mosquitos have 47 teeth

Beavers were once the size of bears

Only male turkeys gobble

You burn 20 calories an hour chewing gum

11% of people in the world are left-handed

Giraffes have no vocal chords

Chewing gum while peeling onions will prevent you from crying

The only food that does not spoil is honey

All porcupines float in water

&

Animals that lay eggs don't have belly buttons

Should I fall back to sleep, hard tell, what I might dream about.

Any New Englanders here; ever been to The Shaboo?
Posted: Aug 16, 2007 - 9:59am
Connecticut~ Willimantic - Ah I remember the stories my uncles & the fortunate "older" crowd (I was only an adolecent-teen) would tell about Shaboo's located between Willimantic ECSU & Mansfield UCONN. Oh, I was too young to have gone, to remember first hand... but... ... I do remember the stories & how it just seemed like it was the coolest place... Well, anyway, they're doing this 25th anniversary reunion / benefit concert this week end!

Aerosmith, Tom Waits, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits and Miles Davis all played at The Shaboo Inn during its heyday.

David "Lefty" Foster wasn't yet 20 when he and his business partners opened the Shaboo Inn in Willimantic in 1971, which raised certain legal issues.

"For the first year-and-a-half, I was too young to be in my own place," Foster says many, many years later, as he prepares to host a reunion concert Saturday to mark the 25th anniversary of the club's closing. The show features one-time Shaboo ...

that I would be good even if I got the thumbs down
that I would be good if I got and stayed sick

that I would be fine even if I went bankrupt
that I would be good if I lost my hair and my youth
that I would be great if I was no longer queen
that I would be grand if I was not all knowing

that I would be loved even when I numb myself

HOW TO BE A GOOD WIFE
Home Economics High School Text Book, 1954

Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal, on time. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospect of a good meal are part of the warm welcome needed.

Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so that you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your makeup, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people. Be a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift.

Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the home just before your husband arrives, gather up schoolbooks, toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift, too.
