you hit that nail right on the head. i had the extreme misfortune of seeing him in a solo concert recently and he sucked.

Alt-J - Bloodflood (Apr 10, 2013 - 06:16) | This is by far my favourite album so far this year. going to iTunes now to complete the download of the album.
Alt-J - Taro (Feb 13, 2013 - 12:00) | I love this song, but the lyrics are a bit hard to figure out.
Angelo Badalamenti - Dance Of The Dream Man (Feb 05, 2013 - 12:12) | socalhol wrote: Oooh! Like this.
It sounds a WHOLE LOT like this other jazzy piece I've been trying to track down, featured on the TV ad for Ekornes Stressless Recliner. If anyone has a lead on that, I'd appreciate any info - on who does it and if it's available for download. cheers Try looking for the TV ads on YouTube.
Bruce Springsteen - Brilliant Disguise (Jan 26, 2013 - 06:34) | his last good song was Born to Run. since then he been living off of his reputation. look up the word "commercialized" and it might say see Springsteen, Bruce.
Queen - The Show Must Go On (Dec 07, 2012 - 07:08) | If ever a song deserved an 11, this song is it.
Freddie Mercury was quite the genius.
i still mourn his passing.
yet i revel in the celebration of his soul.
Artie Shaw - Mysterioso (Nov 30, 2012 - 07:40) | My Dad always claimed the '40's had the best music and the coolest cats... i would have to agree after hearing this gem.
Elton John - Madman Across The Water (Nov 29, 2012 - 09:27) | Hard to believe, as least for me, that Elton John and Bernie Taupin were so great together. their early works are far superior to anything later, even up to the present day. this is an easy 9.
First Aid Kit - Wolf (Nov 29, 2012 - 05:31) | This is a 10 right from start! love the beat, love the vocals, they keep getting better and better.
please tour in my desolate part of the great American southeast, i long for something special.
Alphaville - Big In Japan (Nov 09, 2012 - 08:58) | AliGator wrote: At least BillG isn't playing "Forever Young." Right?
And what exactly is wrong with "Forever Young", especially the extended version from this album?
Roy Orbison - In Dreams (Sep 22, 2012 - 06:50) | one word to describe Roy Orbison: genius
most of the the music by other artists that follows him is due to his brilliance.
he is the Beethoven of our times.
oh, and speaking of Blue Velvet, Dennis Hopper was a local celebrity, and the movie was filmed in various parts of my town. i pass the building used for the exterior shots of his apartment all the time, and it always brings both a smile to my face and a shiver up my spine. we miss Mr. Hopper here dearly.
Peter and Kerry - One Thing (Aug 18, 2012 - 07:58) | Not available on iTunes yet as of 8/18/12
update: still not on iTunes as of 12/8/12, yet the album is, just minus this track!!
Triggerfinger - I Follow Rivers (Aug 17, 2012 - 09:54) | it is August 17, i was just able to download this version from iTunes. still torn between the two versions. but somehow the whistling gets me every time.
Thomas Dolby - I Love You Goodbye (Aug 14, 2012 - 11:22) | Such an eclectic mix of sounds, noises, voices, tempos...it all adds up to a really good song in my opinion, from a pioneer in the electronic music genre.
thenewno2 - Hanging On (Jul 27, 2012 - 06:46) | The name of this band brings to mind an old TV show called The Prisoner.
But the sound is kinda growing on me.
Worthy of an 8 for starters.
Madness - Our House (Jul 26, 2012 - 06:29) | This is still one of my favourite little ditties from the 80's New Wave invasion. loved the video too, as once upon a time it was in heavy rotation when MTV first lit up the video world. ah, Madness.
Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (Jun 28, 2012 - 10:23) | I recently posted a comment on the Triggerfinger version saying it was better, IMHO. well, after hearing this version, i now state that this is the superior version. but i still give both versions a 10.
Santana Brothers - Luz Amor Y Vida (Jun 15, 2012 - 13:18) | How can you not dig this groovy guitar magic?? a perfect blend of rock and salsa, which has always been to me the hallmark of the Santana sound.
Mogwai - Get To France (Jun 14, 2012 - 11:56) | Remember, do not get them wet, and never, never, never, feed them after midnight
Rachid Taha - Barra Barra (May 16, 2012 - 10:32) | I was going to say something rude, but i figure my 1 rating says it all.
if this appeals to you, great. i just do not get it. IMHO
Kathleen Edwards - Goodnight, California (May 04, 2012 - 08:28) | WOW what a song. first heard this whilst strolling along the strand and staring out at the might Atlantic, about as far away from California as one can get. this is an aural feast for the ears.
The Beatles - Hello, Goodbye (Apr 23, 2012 - 08:19) | billbangert wrote: It's stuff like this that drives me back to Slacker and Pandora. For those who do not see the value of RP, i say good riddance to ye.
The Beatles - Hello, Goodbye (Apr 23, 2012 - 08:02) | Back in the day, i had every single Beatle album and single.......and this is the only one to have survived all the upgrades and purges, and remains in my treasured vinyl collection. a sublime work of art.
Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (w/ Kimbra) (Apr 12, 2012 - 07:01) | I first came across this song last night (11 APR 2012) on American Idol. it was sung as a duet by Elise and Phillip, and it was fantastic. right after that i went and downloaded it from i-Tunes.
Elton John - Border Song (Mar 30, 2012 - 07:19) | Compared to his later commercial work, the older material was so much better. why did he stray so far from the fold?
Lana Del Rey - Video Games (Mar 28, 2012 - 07:17) | OK, so she just stands there and sings, shows no emotion, and there is something wrong with that? sometimes i like to just listen to the song, not be distracted by dancing and fancy costumes. lately i have seen that commercial radio is beginning to sound like RP, and it just goes to show how kool it is here, and how we are the trend right now. i have been with RP since the very beginning and it keeps getting better. Bill and Rebecca, you rule!!
Anna Ternheim - Bow Your Head (Mar 28, 2012 - 05:26) | creekgirl wrote: if you like this, you may want to check out a group called Renaissance from back in the 60s/70s Now that you mention it, i do see a touch of Annie in Anna's voice. as i am a child of the 70's, i have seen Renaissance many times. they were a powerful band and very theatrical, with soaring vocals and themes and a great stage show. to me they were better than E.L.O and E.L.P. with a fantastic singer.

Coldplay - The Scientist (Mar 22, 2012 - 05:47) | To me, this is what music is all about. We just heard the Coldplay version, and it sounds a bit whiney, etc, and we are also hearing the Aimee Mann version, which sounds better to me also. BUT........every singer brings to a song a different take. Or else it would be karoake. At the risk of inviting scorn, i have become a fan of American Idol simply because i love hearing a good song, and how some artists can take standards and change them to suit their voice. Granted, it is "pop" music, but not always, as they have theme nights, and force the contestants to conform to a certain style. Sometimes it's a winner, most times not. Still, there is J-Lo, but i digress. My point: enjoy the music!! 'nuff said.
Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade Of Pale (Mar 07, 2012 - 11:14) | Ah memories......my older brother, who was a good musician, taught me the organ solo from this tune, back when the song was first played. recently i was in this organ/piano store, and remembered enough of the music to play it fairly well. surprised me big time, since i can't always remember what i had for lunch yesterday.

Myself, i prefer a bong and a blintz just sayin'
Taj Mahal - The Calypsonians (Mar 07, 2012 - 09:48) | THIS IS TERRIBLE "SINGING". sounds like Tom Waits, only with no humour. is this the way he always sounded? i seem to remember a different sound back in the 70's and 80's. or am i growing old and feeble?
ok, i jumped the gun, this is not so bad afterall, upgrading to a 6.

Led Zeppelin - Kashmir (Feb 27, 2012 - 05:29) | A great piece of music, like a great work of art, or a great old movie, can never be heard/seen/watched too many times. while it is fine to live in the moment, we are, collectively, a product of our life experiences, and to not embrace a classic such as this is akin to burning a book we disagree with, or banning a comic due to content, or any other form of censorship. RP is THE place for music, so suck it up when you hear something not quite your cup of tea. for me, i will take my chances here, and enjoy the total spectrum of music that RP provides us.
ok, i will now climb down from my soapbox.
Younger Brother - Train (Feb 24, 2012 - 06:48) | allenrudd wrote: "Spinning into Place" on the same LP is even better. IMHO I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE!!
Greg Laswell - Your Ghost (Feb 03, 2012 - 08:47) | this is an awesome cover of the original, it has better production values, but.....somehow, since i have heard the original so many times, i still prefer that version. some songs just sound better when sung in a discordant manner.
!Deladap - Lautlos (Jan 28, 2012 - 07:28) | Seltsam, aber es gefällt mir noch ...... erinnert mich an "They Might Be Giants"
The Cranberries - Tomorrow (Jan 28, 2012 - 07:11) | nails on a blackboard? Seriously?? this has such a groovy vibe, so different, yet so comforting. the Cranberries have not missed a beat!! feels like i am back on the air at my college radio station when they first came out and now i get to hear them again for the first time. welcome back!!
William Shatner - Common People (Jan 28, 2012 - 07:01) | this is so goofy, that is what makes it so cool. Shatner is not afraid to poke fun at himself and the whole Hollywood schtick. met him in person once at a Trek convention, he was so gracious, and not anything like the "get a life" image as portrayed on SNL.
The Cars - Dangerous Type (Jan 27, 2012 - 05:26) | I bought this album when it first came out, and, to this day, i still look at the Vargas girl before i notice the car. i hope i never grow up!!
Radiohead - Separator (Jan 06, 2012 - 06:06) |
Am i the only one who finds this monotonous and sleep inducing?
Cults - Go Outside (Jan 06, 2012 - 06:02) | Not sure about this one, will have to listen some more. leaning towards kinda nice for now.
Florence + The Machine - No Light, No Light (Jan 06, 2012 - 05:37) | To those of you that think Flo has little or no range, i beg to differ. i recently saw both her SNL performances, and she exhibited a tremendous vocal range and subtlety that does not always come across in her slightly (but pleasantly) over produced studio work. and there is nothing wrong with LOUD as long as you have the pipes and the band to go with it.
Tom Waits - Step Right Up (Dec 09, 2011 - 07:04) | i think i understand the lyrics and meaning from the previous song (Helele by Velile and Safri Duo) better than i can from this song.
Velile and Safri Duo - Helele (Dec 09, 2011 - 07:02) | i have NO idea what the singer is saying, but, strangely, i do not care!
the beat is indeed infectious.
Crosby Stills & Nash - Long Time Gone (Nov 02, 2011 - 09:13) | Misterfixit wrote: I disagree. First, you had to have lived in those troubled times; second, you must listen to the words and understand that they are NOT about what may be obvious; to be trite, there is a deeper meaning to this song than can be fathomed on the first or even the tenth listening. This song and the singing poetry goes deep into the collective consciences of the America people of that time. The late 1960's were a terrible time and a wonderful time at the same time. The insane war in Vietnam and the breath-taking open-mindedness and hope of most of the youth of that day. Well, I guess you just had to be there. I know, I sure was. Misterfixit.......as a member of the in-between generation of the 60's (i was 16 when Nixon was elected), i have to agree with you whole-heartedly!!! simply put, you had to be there to appreciate the kind of folk music that CS&N (and later Y) and others were producing. Woodstock defined my adolescence and my generation. it's like us saying the Great Depression was no big deal, but to our parents and grandparents it defined them. 'nuff said

Deep Purple - Hush (Oct 25, 2011 - 06:18) | for all you youngins out there.......yes, we knew how to rock back in the 70's. in my top 10 for the decade without a doubt!! reminds me of how much i was into Jesus Christ Superstar.
First Aid Kit - When I Grow Up (Jul 16, 2011 - 06:14) | After downloading both songs from iTunes, i would have to say that i prefer this version by First Aid Kit over the Fever Ray version. this version is more melodic, and the vocals are vastly superior, and the music fits the song better. maybe it is because i heard this version first, and that is why i like it more. music, like any form of Art, is open to different interpretations, and that makes it all the more satisfying when you find something that you really get.

Eddy Grant - Electric Avenue (Jun 13, 2011 - 05:03) | I HAVE ALWAYS HATED THIS "SONG" EVER SINCE I FIRST HEARD IT. PLEASE MAKE THE BAD MUSIC GO AWAY!!

Doobie Brothers - Black Water (May 24, 2011 - 07:20) | I have seen this band over a dozen times, and they still know how to ROCK. saw them at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC, recently and it was, to me, their best show ever. GO DOOBIES!!
Fairport Convention - Matty Groves (May 17, 2011 - 05:08) | as a youngin i despised this sort of music, but, now, later on i can appreciate the beauty of this song. but.......why the long instrumental at the end? i can listen to Sandy Denny sing for hours, but the ending seems to go on FOREVER. oh well, it was still a hoot to hear this old gem.
Aerosmith - Dream On (Apr 20, 2011 - 09:38) | WOW long time no hear for this classic. some music just gets better with age.
Carolina Chocolate Drops - Snowden's Jig (Apr 13, 2011 - 07:39) | i do not usually make negative comments, and i know that this piece has a lot of fans, but i really do not care for the sound of this. i think it might be the drumbeat that spooks me, the fiddle playing is fine, albeit a tad scratchy. but, i will continue to listen, and hope it grows on me.
Basia Bulat - Heart Of My Own (Mar 28, 2011 - 09:42) | MMMMMMM.......this sounds so very much like the previous song ( Joan Baez - Diamonds and Rust), hard to believe they are separated by 35 years....great segue. and since i span those years, i can say that i love both these songs. keep up the great work, RP
Adele - Rolling In The Deep (Mar 28, 2011 - 07:43) | Great performance! hope she becomes successful but not commercial. please play more of her work. thanks again RP for exposing us to a new (at least for me) artist with amazing talent.
Carolina Chocolate Drops - Snowden's Jig (Mar 23, 2011 - 07:04) | I rated this a 1 only because there are no fractions here......would give it a 0.01 if i could. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CLAPTRAP!! ps......i am almost ashamed to say i am from Carolina..please change the name of your band, thank you.
Jethro Tull - Wond'ring Aloud (Mar 22, 2011 - 10:41) | I saw JT way back when, right after this album first debuted in America. it was at Madison Square Garden, and they played most of Aqualung, then stopped, and Ian said, "we would like to play something new for you, hope you like it..." where upon they launched into the complete rendition of Thick as a Brick, much to my delight. what a show. all these years later i still get gooseflesh thinking about it. go Tull!!
Bohren & Der Club Of Gore - Constant Fear (Feb 19, 2011 - 06:13) | HELP!!!
I feel as if I have been bludgeoned to death by boredom
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
this artist should be re-named Borin and der club of snore
The Avett Brothers - The Perfect Space (Dec 23, 2010 - 04:44) | I love these guys!! cannot wait until Spring 2011 when they play at the North Carolina Azalea Festival in my adopted hometown. I never knew they used to perform a lot around here before they were "discovered". it's nice to see a band remember its roots.
Arcade Fire - Half Light II (No Celebration) (Dec 01, 2010 - 08:47) | Saw them on SNL recently....thought they were great......love Sprawl a ton.....was their recent SNL gig typical of the way they are in concert? they were a bit quirky, but, hey i dig quircky.....hope they do not get too commercial. i'm giving this song an 8 until i hear it more.
2raumwohnung - Ich Weiß Warum (Nov 10, 2010 - 12:04) | Very kool song. who cares if it's in German? the beat is awesome. but it reminds me of a song by Laid Back called "White Horse". oh, and the album is available on iTunes, which surprised me.
Zero 7 - Pop Art Blue (Mar 24, 2010 - 12:44) | after hearing this gem of a song for the umpteenth time, i raised my rating to an 8. this is one of those "grows-on-you" songs.
Neil Young - After the Gold Rush (Mar 10, 2010 - 06:20) | One of my all time favorite songs ever. Brings me back to my glorious youth and High School days. I can't carry a tune at all, and this song can be sung off key and it still sounds good to me. Neil Young is one of the best singer-songwriters of our time. I never get tired of his work. Thanks RP for making my day!!!
Passenger - Night Vision Binoculars (Feb 25, 2010 - 13:41) | i LOVE this song. it combines so many different sounds, and it clicks with me on so many levels. great stuff!
ps....by the way....IT'S JUST A SONG...it is NOT condoning any kind of behaviour, good or bad...so relax and enjoy.
pps...does this remind you of early Smiths? maybe not the message, but the music does to me.
Roger Miller - King of The Road (Feb 25, 2010 - 13:40) | My late father used to play this all the time, especially when i would blast my Beatles and Stones music as a youngin. great music never goes out of style!
Yes - Heart Of The Sunrise (Feb 05, 2010 - 12:40) | Now this is music!!!
this is one of the few albums that i kept when i made the change to CD
great album cover too
the first time i ever saw them was in either '72 or '73, they were an opening act for Peter Frampton and then later on Mountain in a soccer stadium in the Bronx, NY. they played for 3 hours, did 3 encores, and basically kept Frampton and Mountain cooling their heels for a while. they were easily the best of the 3 bands that played that concert.
Astor Piazzolla - Ausencias (Jan 28, 2010 - 11:12) | This sounds like something one might hear while relaxing at a Parisian sidewalk cafe sipping cafe au lait.
Suzanne Ciani - Celtic Nights (Jan 07, 2010 - 12:11) | rgio wrote: Sounds like a Cats Stevens tune...the name escapes me.

Shannon McNally - Pale Moon (Jan 07, 2010 - 08:08) | Who really cares what an artist looks like??
I come here for the music, not to see what anyone looks like. if you are into looks, watch MTV or VH-1.
Other Lives - How Could This Be? (Jan 05, 2010 - 06:41) | A very interesting song from a wonderful new band, at least to this listener. full of subtle mood changes and modern lyrics interspersed with an older style of music. bravo to this new sound. give us more, please!!
Paolo Nutini - Candy (Oct 02, 2009 - 08:48) | Man, this guy sounds desperate for some love. but i actually like this song a whole lot. i can commiserate with how how he feels. been there, done that. ah, unrequited love, such is life.
Frida Snell - Bullet With Butterfly Wings (Jul 17, 2009 - 13:02) | wow!! a singer who can actually sing, and does not need over dubbing and loud music to cover a poor voice. brava!! p.s. check out her myspace www/myspace.com/fridasnell
Sia - Breathe Me (Jun 25, 2009 - 07:04) | What a wonderful song!! the way it sort of fades out, rests, then comes back strong and forceful, and then the amazing crescendo and climax...it takes my breath away. kudos to Sia and the outstanding mixing crew on this one. and, no, she is not a copy of Tori Amos, or Kate Bush, two great artists in their own right. Sia is a clear voice in this music world of sameness and yawn inspiring banality. the listener is urged to explore all her music to capture the richness of her talent.
Tori Amos - Welcome To England (May 06, 2009 - 10:27) | WOW!! new Tori Amos be still my beating heart i hope the rest of the material is as good as this track.
Miss Chaos - Mama Cries (May 04, 2009 - 10:25) | Pardon me if I am being repetetive, but didn't this used to be entitled "Mama Cries"?? Whatever it's called, I still like it. NOTE: i just checked www.lastfm.com this song is entitled Mama Cries, not Surrendered.
Annakin - The Coast is Clear (Jan 21, 2009 - 09:27) | And I thought her first album was good. This one is even better, from what I have heard. I just ordered it from her website, and she agreed to autograph it for me like she did her first album. I just love her voice, and her songs are so well crafted and melodic, and I hope she has great success.
The Ventures - Walk Don't Run (Jan 21, 2009 - 09:02) | hippiechick wrote: One of the first things everyone used to learn to play on guitar (at least the opening riff)
EXACTLY!! my older brother and I shared a "Play Guitar with The Ventures" record when we were kids. he managed to learn pretty well. but I am a lefty, and had to learn with the strings upside down, so it never worked. but i tried!!
RPWL - Masters Of War (Jan 05, 2009 - 13:30) | Who is this??
all i know is i like it!!
thanks RP
after some googling, i find that this band is from Germany, and has been out since 1997 and has 5 albums out there.....yet this is my first time hearing them....thanks to whomever uploaded this song, i have found a new group to like.

Another memorable broa... er, lady is the snappy cab driver. Same movie, right? Sometimes Bogie movies run together...
"I remember every detail. The Germans wore gray. You wore blue."
that last line is from Casablanca. and yes, the cabbie was way kool. if you want to understand The Big Sleep, read the book, then get the newest DVD and watch the A version that was never aired on TV.
My Morning Jacket - Librarian (Oct 29, 2008 - 11:37) | To me, this song has en eerie, haunting quality to it. such understated vocals and beautiful lilting quality to the background music. and it does evoke that scene from The Big Sleep with Bogey and Dorothy Malone at the Acme Bookstore. and don't forget a few scenes before that when Bogey is at the Hollywood Public Library and impresses a true librarian (played by Carole Douglas). this song is worthy of a true 10.
 and talk about snappy dialogue.......
And when a respectable looking businessman, a client, is buzzed into the back room, this confirms Marlowe's feelings about Geiger's disreputable business (a front for a blackmail racket or for a high-class lending library of pornographic, dirty books for subscribers only). Across the street from the bookstore, Marlowe waits for Geiger to materialize, viewing the store from the front window of the Acme Book Store with a spectacled, antiquarian bookseller clerk (Dorothy Malone) who is quickly charmed: Clerk: Is there something I can do for you? Marlowe: Would you do me a very small favor? Clerk: I don't know. It depends on the favor. Marlowe: Do you know Geiger's bookstore across the street? Clerk: I think I may have passed it. Marlowe: Do you know Geiger by sight? Clerk: Well, I ... Marlowe: What does he look like? Clerk: Wouldn't it be easy enough to go across the street and ask to see him? Marlowe: I've already done that...Do you know anything about rare books? Clerk: You could try me. Marlowe: Would you happen to have a Ben-Hur 1860, Third Edition with a duplicated line on page one-sixteen? Or a Chevalier Audubon 1840? (She searches her listings and bibliographies) Clerk: Nobody would. There isn't one. Marlowe: The girl in Geiger's bookstore didn't know that. Clerk: Oh, I see. You begin to interest me - vaguely. Marlowe: I'm a private dick on a case. Perhaps I'm asking too much, although it doesn't seem too much to me somehow. Clerk: Well, Geiger's in his early forties, medium height, fattish, soft all over, Charlie Chan mustache, well-dressed, wears a black hat, affects a knowledge of antiques and hasn't any, and, oh yes, I think his left eye is glass. Marlowe: You'd make a good cop. As a heavy rain begins to fall, he proposes that they have a drink of rye (from a bottle in his pocket) while he waits for Geiger to come out - with a suggestive line: "I'd rather get wet in here." The independent bookseller pulls the shade and closes an hour early, removes her eyeglasses and lets her hair down coyly: "It looks like we're closed for the rest of the afternoon." She also offers two cups for their drinking. Marlowe can't believe the quick transformation, and greets her with an exaggerated "Hello," before they enjoy an afternoon dalliance together - suggested by the film's fadeout. Later, (after the rain has stopped), as Marlowe leaves the bookstore, he non-chalantly says goodbye to the character who has given him an observant, professional description of Geiger: Marlowe: Well, thanks. Clerk: If you ever want to buy a book...? Marlowe: Ben-Hur, 1860? Clerk: With duplications? So long. Marlowe: So long, pal
Ah, that Bogey was such a smoothie, eh??

Fleet Foxes - Your Protector (Sep 04, 2008 - 13:32) | if i am not mistaken, i believe that the producer for The Shins also produced Fleet Foxes. either way, this is great music. thanks RP!!
Wolfsheim - Approaching Lightspeed (Aug 21, 2008 - 06:32) | To me, this sounds like something from the 80's. Yes, very Kraftwerk-ish in form and sound, but not quite as gritty as the original. And there are traces of the early Depeche Mode sound too. Overall a nice bouncy song to brighten up an otherwise drab rainy morning. Thanks again RP for mixing it up.
Peter Murphy - Strange Kind of Love (Aug 21, 2008 - 06:17) | Ah, Peter Murphy.....how could you not like the lead singer from Bauhaus?? great voice, great phrasing, very melodic, and this tune is very haunting to me.
Annakin - Turn Us On (Nov 21, 2007 - 10:52) | This is truly a great album. I was lucky enough to receive an autographed copy of the CD from the artist. She is quite nice and very talented. I recommend this album to anyone who likes this song.
Annakin - Bleary (Oct 24, 2007 - 10:56) | I recently received a copy of this album from the artist, and i have since fallen in love with every song. each song is like a little gem, and she sounds so different on each one. this is definately an album worth buying. thanks RP for another great artist to listen to.
Show of Hands - Roots (Oct 02, 2007 - 05:28) | fantastic song!!
i'm a Yank, but i can trace my roots back to Wales, and i get it.
Annakin - Line of Fire (Sep 27, 2007 - 08:59) | What a beautiful, etherial song!!
songs like this make RP the best place to hear the best music. thanks again Bill and Rebecca for making my work day bearable.
Rilo Kiley - Dreamworld (Sep 27, 2007 - 08:44) | this is a nice pleasant tune you can hum along to, it's got a nice beat, in a Fleetwood Mac sort of way. nice pick, RP
A Perfect Circle - The Noose (Sep 04, 2007 - 07:42) | this is my first time hearing this song, and i like it a lot. can someone recommend other songs by this artist??
Eisley - Invasion (Aug 28, 2007 - 12:55) | iransofaraway wrote: Anyone know how I can re-upload a better quality version of this? I was the one who originally sent it along.. but it unfortunately wasn't as good as it could be, and it still got accepted.
the best way to get a quality upload is to buy the CD, rip the song at 320, then re-upload it. i rip all my tracks at 320, which makes for large files, but what the heck, i have lots of memory
Eisley - Invasion (Aug 28, 2007 - 12:53) | for me, this is one of those songs I can listen to over and over, and it gets better each time. once again, a great find by RP, many thanks to the person who uploaded this little gem.
10 CC - Dreadlock Holiday (Jul 30, 2007 - 11:33) | this tune still rocks. 10cc was so ahead of its time its not funny. i also love the single "Cry"
released by band members Godley and Creme. very good stuff, mon.
Röyksopp - Remind Me (Jul 24, 2007 - 13:30) | everytime i see that darn GEICO ad, and hear this song, it rattles around in my head for days. now that i have heard the whole tune, i kinda like it.
maybe it will be the theme song on the TV show they plan on making with our favorite cavemen. who knew??
Show of Hands - Roots (Jun 01, 2007 - 11:37) | i just can't seem to get enough of this song. everytime it's played on RP i crank it up, and my co-workers look at me when i sing along, but i don't care. i am not even British, but i love this song. listen to the lyrics, they are dead on.
another gem from RP. and a big thanks to whomever uploaded this song you have impeccable taste
Peter Murphy - All Night Long (May 16, 2007 - 07:46) | thank you, oh master of the playlist for following up that awful Tom Waits drivel with a singer who can actually sing and carry a tune and work with a beat and make you want to sing along without having to swallow acid before.
Tom Waits - Little Drop of Poison (May 16, 2007 - 07:42) | don't take this the wrong way all of you who like this, but i really can't stand the way he sings. he sounds like he has just gargled with razor blades. maybe it's not just the voice, but the music in the background...it reminds me of Chiller Theatre, or the theme from "Plan 9 from Outer Space"
Gotye - Heart's A Mess (May 14, 2007 - 11:41) | This is great song, i am officially hooked!!
The video is quite weird too
Minnie Driver - Wire (May 02, 2007 - 08:37) | very nice indeed!!
not that surprising, as i have always thought of her as a very talented performer. thanks again RP for exposing us to her beautiful singing voice.
Tom Waits - Chocolate Jesus (May 02, 2007 - 06:39) | i know some people love this music, but it sets my teeth on edge. and it's not the voice, which i sort of like. it's the way he sings, almost like he is trying too hard to sound like an old time real Blues artist. maybe he is an acquired taste.
Rabbi Shergill - Bulla Ki Jana (Mar 26, 2007 - 09:52) | forget the language barrier, this song is great. the singer has a passion that trancends the verbiage. think of it as Operatic. would you see La Traviata, etc, and enjoy it as much if it were sung in English, or your native tongue?
Mike Doughty - Ossining (Feb 05, 2007 - 08:47) | Ossining is a little town in Westchester County, NY, maybe 50 miles from Manhattan. it is better known as the home of the infamous prison Sing-Sing, where many a bad person was sent "up the river" to. used to live about 10 miles from there. the locals changed the name of the village to Ossining several years ago to disassociate themselves from the reputation of being a prison town.
Lost at Last - Diamond Body (Sep 09, 2005 - 09:06) | everytime i hear this artist, i wanna go out and falafal myself, with some hummus thrown in for good measure.
BT - Satellite (Mar 10, 2004 - 08:47) | very kool song...is there more by this artist??
smooth, melodic, good vocals, kinda pink-floyd like ending
Small Faces - Itchycoo Park (Nov 25, 2003 - 09:44) | I remember this song being banned from the radio when i was young, as it was thought to be promoting drug usage. funny how the more things change, the more they remain the same.
The Dandy Warhols - Sleep (Nov 15, 2003 - 12:52) | this is one of my favourite new bands. but this song is way too mellow to listen to at work. puts me in a happy state of mind, which infuriates my co-workers, who are always grouchy
Midge Ure - Answers To Nothing (Oct 11, 2003 - 10:07) | great song, Bill. he is such an under-appreciated artist, especially his work with Ultravox. i also love his duet with Kate Bush. keep playing this song, maybe others will boost it up to it's rightful place
Patti Smith - Frederick (Oct 09, 2003 - 13:18) | if i were washed ashore on a desert isle with a CD player, loads of batteries, and only 10 songs, this would be one of them!!
Radiohead - Sail To The Moon (Oct 08, 2003 - 10:04) | wouldn't this song sound better if it were played at a faster speed, like an old 78??
just wundring
Renaissance - Mother Russia (live) (Oct 01, 2003 - 13:58) | ooooh, what a great song. i remember seeing this band many times while in college. Annie Haslam has such a fantastic voice. this is the first time i have heard this band on RP....good choice!!
Anoushka Shankar - Raga Desh (Sep 30, 2003 - 10:44) | normally, i like this kinda music when i am eating dinner at a fine Indian resturaunt. but this piece goes on for way too long. this is a meal best comsumed in short bites
Greg Brown - Lull it By (Sep 29, 2003 - 05:38) | this is the worst song to play on a Monday morning. it's gonna put me back to sleep
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Human Cargo - Carry Us Beyond (Sep 25, 2003 - 14:03) | sometimes, a simple beat, even a repetitious one, can be relaxing. lyrics can get in the way of a good piece of music. it's actually harder to craft a piece without lyrics. so just listen, mon, and groove to da beat, Irae
Mythos - November (Sep 23, 2003 - 12:58) | Very nice.......may be an Enigma clone, but so what...i like the stuff.....play more
Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satellite (Sep 22, 2003 - 10:07) | who is this??
this is great!!
why don't we hear it more often??
what else does this artist have to offer??
play more, please!!
Tom Waits - Chocolate Jesus (Sep 22, 2003 - 08:09) | THIS IS HORRIBLE
IT MIGHT HAVE SOUNDED GOOD 75 YEARS AGO, BUT NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE AN UNINSPIRED ARTIST WHO CAN'T FIND A SOUND TO CALL HIS OWN. THE BLUES HAVE BEEN DONE BY ARTISTS MUCH MORE TALENTED THAN THIS HACK. PLEASE MAKE THE PAIN GO AWAY.....
I WOULD RATHER HEAR WILLIAM SHATNER "SING" THAN THIS GUY
Imogen Heap - Come Here Boy (Sep 19, 2003 - 12:14) | the_jake2 wrote:
Glad she didn't take her mother's maiden name - Coco

what's the matter.....doncha like Sid Caeser's old sidekick?? i think her last film role was as Aunt Edna in "Vacation"
Alabama 3 - Woke Up This Morning (Sep 18, 2003 - 09:25) | Speaking of the Sopranos, when is HBO going to show new episodes??
kool show, can't wait for the new season!!
oh, and the song is hot, too
Vienna Teng - Soon Love Soon (Sep 17, 2003 - 08:12) | i bought this CD because of another song, but i soon zoned in on this one. what a sweet, touching, wonderful song. sung with real emotion and feeling. Vienna Tang is a very underrated artist. folksy, yet powerful. and such a sweet voice. yummy!!
Santana - Soul Sacrifice (Sep 15, 2003 - 13:05) | this piece still sounds great all these years later. i grooved to this when i was in High School, and i still groove to it now. just what i need to get me over the mid-day Monday hump.
Fun Lovin' Criminals - Crazy Train (Sep 15, 2003 - 10:43) | OK, here is an example of a remake that should never have been made. poor Ozzy, having one of his best heavy metal tunes turned into dentist's music. why bother?? the original is so good, so heavy, so....Ozzy. please, please, please make the bad music STOP.
eye-eye-eye
Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence (Sep 15, 2003 - 10:06) | Great song from a very good album. as far as i am concerned, this is the last great album by Depeche Mode. it reminds me of their earlier works.
Wall Of Voodoo - Mexican Radio (Sep 15, 2003 - 08:06) | one of my favorites from the 80's. Stan Ridgeway has such a different voice. some of his solo work is great also, like: "Drive, She Said". this group never took itself seriously, kinda quirky. a good listen anyway.
thanks for something different on a blue monday
Crowded House - Into Temptation (Sep 12, 2003 - 05:49) | What a beautiful, moving, sweet song. The Finns at the peak of their powers. this song is an 11, if i could only rate it that high.
Pink Martini - No Hay Problema (Sep 05, 2003 - 10:40) | this reminds me of Enoch Light, a pioneer in electronic music of the 50's and 60's that my father used to listen to. quite nice, now that i am old enough to appreciate something different. thanks, Dad, for broadening my horizons.
Eagles - Journey Of The Sorcerer (Sep 05, 2003 - 06:06) | funny that RP should play this tune, cause in one of the forums, we were discussing BritComs. i mentioned Hitchhiker's Guide....and this song was the theme song......kool,eh?
Greg Brown - Lull it By (Sep 05, 2003 - 05:39) | OK, i officially downgraded this "song" to a "one" rating, because:
I HATE THIS SONG!!!!
It may be titled Lull it by, but it should be, Lull it to sleep.
i have heard more pleasant sounds when one of my cats drags her claws across a blackboard.
:puke:
Nogu Svelo - Haru Mamburu (Aug 27, 2003 - 04:59) | it takes a certain quality of junk for me to give it a "1" rating. what a piece of work to wake up to. please, no more of this, Bill
thanks
Peter Murphy - Cuts You Up (Aug 26, 2003 - 10:37) | now here is a singer that not only has a great voice, but actually ennunciates all of his lyrics. a pleasure to listen to.
Coldplay - Warning Sign (Aug 26, 2003 - 05:45) | it's funny that i buy a CD because i like one song, but after a few times listening, i usually find another song i like better. i like this song the most from this CD. go figure
Peter Murphy - All Night Long (Aug 25, 2003 - 12:38) | another one of my favorite artists from my college DJ days back in the Big 80's. check out the early stuff....so good.
Evanescence - Hello (Aug 25, 2003 - 12:36) | I am waiting for the hair on the back of my neck to settle back down.....WOW, what a powerfull voice. love it, love the CD
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick (Aug 25, 2003 - 10:26) | when i converted over from vinyl to CD, this is the first one i bought. mostly because i used to hate to get up from the sofa and flip the album over.
many moons ago, in a concert in NYC, Tull was playing "Aqualung", when right in the middle of the song, they stopped, and Ian Anderson announced they were going to play 'something' from their new album. it turns out they played "Thick as a Brick" in it's entirety, took a 10 second break to drink some water, then resumed playing "Aqualung" right from the place they left off. almost 2 hours of nonstop music. anyone who has seen Tull live knows how frantic Ian can get. well, that night, he was a man possessed. quite possibly the best concert i have ever seen.
when i go on long drives, i slip this into the player, sing along with Ian, and enjoy myself so much.
LONG LIVE JETHRO TULL
Over the Rhine - Show Me (Aug 22, 2003 - 11:19) | nice song, sounds upbeat......nice voice, too
kinda sounds familiar, but i can't quite place it
need to hear more
Frank Sinatra - That's Life (Aug 22, 2003 - 07:51) | i was never a huge Sinatra fan until recently. i have come to embrace Sinatra for the incredible entertainer that he was. a very unique talent.
check out "Summer Wind" if you want to hear what i consider is his best performance.
Scooby scooby doo!!
Sigur Rós - Svefn g-englar (original mix) (Aug 22, 2003 - 07:36) | my cat made a more pleasant sound last night when i accidently stepped on his tail. please, no more of this. some music does not deserve to be played anywhere. tedious, boring, off-key, meaningless, just plain BAD :puke:
Kate Markowitz - Luckier Girls (Aug 21, 2003 - 13:18) | i have a thing for Kate (Bush, that is), but i am willing to try out a new one. Since Kate Bush hasn't done much lately, i'll keep an open mind. this song is sweet, not earth-moving. Maybe a few more listens will raise my rating (it's been known to happen)
Greg Brown - Lull it By (Aug 19, 2003 - 11:45) | i feel like i just wandered onto the set of "Deliverence"
please, someone wake me up!!
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Martha & the Muffins - Echo Beach (Aug 18, 2003 - 11:42) | I wish i was there right now. i am having a lousy post-blackout Monday.
i remember this from my old college DJ days. used to play it as my theme song, so to speak. glad to hear it on RP
Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed (live) (Aug 14, 2003 - 07:31) | While some people think that Paul McCartney was just a member if the Beatles, i happen to think of him as a brilliant musician, composer, and lyricist. his post-Beatle body of work stands on its own in the history of popular music. i was in High School when this came out, and it quickly became a favourite at the school dances. having gone to a Catholic school, we all relished the chance for a "slow" dance, if only to drive the Brothers mad trying to keep us away from the girls.
Big Audio Dynamite - Rush (Aug 13, 2003 - 08:09) | The Clash was one of the best bands of the 80's and beyond. Raw and angry, the lyrics were inspired, satirical, cutting edge. the B.A.D. spin off was good in a different way...more upbeat, cooler, hip, "dancier". i love both incarnations, especially "Medicine Show".
Chicane - Autumn Tactics (Aug 13, 2003 - 06:54) | the only bad thing about this track is that i can't crank it up too high here at work. it deserves to be heard at top volumne.
Lost at Last - Ocean of Mercy (Aug 11, 2003 - 07:44) | every time this song plays, i have to put my phone on "do not disturb", pump up the volume, and try not to dance around my desk too much. my co-workers already think i listen to weird stuff. but we know better!!
:D/
Frou Frou - Must Be Dreaming (Aug 09, 2003 - 06:19) | philarktos wrote:
Agreed !!! Bought it after hearing a few cuts here.
As for the comments: "sounds like Tatu (sp)" Mon Dieu !
Like some faux-lesbian hetero-exploitation gimmick ? Hardly !!!
So what if it rhymes. Imogen has a lovely voice, and
FrouFrou (name inspired by the rustle of Belle Epoque crinoline,Moulin Rouge dontcha know)is fun and sophisticated feminine Euro-pop, and I love it.
i agree with your agreeing
lovely voice, sweet sound, great album.
Neil Finn - Don't Dream It's Over (live) (Aug 08, 2003 - 05:43) | to those of you out there that don't know what a live concert is all about, listen up. yes, the songs sound differently, the audience sings along, sometimes the singer can't reach those high notes...but it's all about HAVING A GOOD TIME!!
so, don't be so critical...can you do better??
The Beatles - Let It Be (Aug 07, 2003 - 13:59) | ANNE_MARIE wrote:*RE:There never has been anyone like the Beatles. If you're of a certain age, you can identify a Beatles song in just a couple of bars, even before you know which song it is. Despite the broad variety of music that they did, there was always something distinctive there.
I dated a 20-something for a while. The jukebox kicked up a Beatles's song. I asked her if she knew who was playing, and she didn't. I laughed, and said that it was like the joke/urban legend, where the younger person on the date is alleged to say, "You mean, Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings." My companion looked at me blankly for another beat, and then asked very soberly, "Wings?"
whoa!
My son is 9 years of age and can pick out a Beatles tune anytime. He knows who is singing most of the time as well. Just a matter of exposure I guess and great taste in music, of course. :p
i couldn't agree more.....right on!! :D/
The Beatles - Let It Be (Aug 07, 2003 - 13:57) | 30 years later, and it's still my favourite Beatles song.
say no more!!
Vienna Teng - Soon Love Soon (Aug 07, 2003 - 13:54) | i have raised my rating to a 10 on this song. it's the kind of song that gets better everytime i hear it.
curled up on my sofa in front of the fireplace, some Grey Goose in a glass next to me, reading a good book, this CD puts me in a state of Nirvana.
Bob Holroyd - Games Without Frontiers (Aug 07, 2003 - 13:39) | i happen to love the original very much, but this version isn't all that bad. artists can do whatever they want to do when covering a song. it's up to the listener to either like it or not. what's the sense of copying a particular song if you don't make a few changes?? sometimes, a cover can be better than the original.
:whip:
Nick Drake - Pink Moon (Aug 07, 2003 - 10:51) | i am usually stingy with my 10's, but this song rates a 10 if ever one did. a brilliant, cute, quirky, sweet, lovely litttle piece of music. too bad it took a dumb TV ad to get his message out. i actually heard/saw the ad in the movies while waiting for the previews to begin. it sounded great cause of the good sound system at the movies. i have been a fan ever since.
Evanescence - Hello (Aug 07, 2003 - 10:28) | this song is so different from other songs on this CD. it proves how good a voice she has. sometimes singers get put into a box, which isn't fair. that's why you have to listen to as much diversity as you can. what better source than RP???
Pink Floyd - The Great Gig In The Sky (Aug 07, 2003 - 08:59) | this brings back memories.....listening to Dark Side on Quadrophonic, passing around the bong, etc.
this is truly one of the best albums of all time. 'nuff said
party on!!
(pimp)
Euphoria - Desert Drive (Aug 07, 2003 - 08:36) | i picked up this CD the other day, and have only listened to it all the way through maybe 4 times. i do like it very much. great for a long drive to somewhere cause it enables you to think and still drive.
ps...i bought it from Amazon, used (in mint condition) via the link, for less than half the price of new
Joan Osborne - I'll Be There (Aug 06, 2003 - 11:15) | great old song, done up in a modern, funky style. what a lovely voice. just enough vibretto.......sweet to listen to.
Chorus of Tribes - Into Morocco (Aug 06, 2003 - 06:58) | to me, ENIGMA will always be the pioneers of this genre of music. driving beats, chants, so called "middle eastern" flavours. so much of what i hear now can be traced to this group. i jumped on this bandwagon the first time i heard "Principles of Lust" and "Mea Culpa" (i'm a sucker for Latin).
so play ENIGMA as often as possible.
Blind Boys Of Alabama - Nobody's Fault But Mine (Aug 05, 2003 - 12:48) | at first, i thought this was from the "O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU?"
soundtrack. but seriously, this is wonderful music. there is something to be said for a group of singers gathered around a mike and letting their hearts and souls out. bravo!!!
The Alarm - Strength (Aug 05, 2003 - 12:18) | now here is a band you don't hear very often. brings back memories also. i especially love The Stand, an homage to Stephen King. thanks for playing this other treat.
8)
Depeche Mode - Dream On (Aug 05, 2003 - 10:04) | Reading all the previous postings, it seems DM ellicits plenty of commentary. like most fans, i adore the older stuff, and am lukewarm for the latest work. some groups just lose the edge after a while. losing a bandmember doesnt help either. they still have plenty of music out there to enjoy. i'll still listen to the new stuff, and hope the next album will show some of their earlier style
Equation - Kissing Crime (Aug 04, 2003 - 07:43) | yes, there is definately a COORS-esque flavour here, maybe a bit livelier.
all in all, a most pleasing tune. love that fiddle too.
:nodhead:
Euphoria - Sweet Rain (Aug 01, 2003 - 08:56) | EXCELLENT!!
Just got the CD, and it's chock full of good music
Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over (Aug 01, 2003 - 07:09) | sometimes i feel unworthy to be allowed to listen to such great music. thank you, Fabulous Freaky Finn Bros for enrichening my world.
Conjure One - Sleep (remix) (Jul 31, 2003 - 06:06) | very hypnotic sound....soothing....what a sweet voice. sounds like many different singers, yet still unique. play more!!
King Crimson - Epitaph (Jul 30, 2003 - 10:47) | ianguy wrote:
I'm sorry, but Yes is leaps and bounds better than Rush.
Now, heres a comment that should mess with some of my fellow prog fans: I like The Ramones, The Talking Heads and Dylan just as much if we're talking about music made in the 70s.
Oh, and in response to another comment: I don't mind standing at a good concert, espessialy if I can move with someone I care about and let the music pass through us like a spiritual force....
having seen YES in concert 5 times, i would agree that they are way better than RUSH. i was just trying to make a point. glad to see there are fans of the good ole stuff. i have also seen the Ramones and the Heads, they are way different as you know, but just as enjoyable. i also enjoyed seeing the Beatles at Shea way back in the 60's
thanks

Paul Schwartz Project - Dark Of The Night (Jul 30, 2003 - 09:58) | very nice tune. warm, sultry vocals, intriguing lyrics. great production values.......another CD to add to the collection.
thanks Bill
:bananabanger:
Peter Tosh - Johnny B. Goode (Jul 29, 2003 - 13:19) | just wanted to say that music can be funny at times. yesterday, i commented on how poorly Annie Lennoxx covered an old Bob Marley tune. now we have just the opposite: Peter Tosh covering an old Rock-n-Roll classic. the funny part is that this song sounds so good when done to the Reggae beat, but the old Reggae song sounds not so good when updated and studio-ized. maybe i am biased on the side of Reggae, but oh well......
Annie Lennox - Waiting In Vain (Jul 28, 2003 - 14:03) | While I do truly enjoy listening to Annie sing, i have to say that this is a BAD cover of a classic. Reggae is Reggae, it has a special, raw, natural sound that can't be duplicated in an over-dub session. where is the passion? where is the pleading, the begging? where are the raspy vocals?
when i hear Bob Marley do this, i feel his pain, i can visualize the tears in his eyes. this cover is way too slick and over-produced. Annie, please stick to what you do best, and stay away from this kind of cover. :headshake:
Kate Bush - The Big Sky (Jul 24, 2003 - 13:54) | of course, anything and everything by Kate Bush i consider superlative. she is the first and the best of her kind of music. "Wuthering Heights" still runs chills up my spine.
how can a voice be so powerfull, and yet so etherial?? a gift from the gods, i say!!

Frou Frou - Let Go (Jul 23, 2003 - 10:01) | I just now received this CD in the mail from AMAZON.COM. let me tell you, this is one fantactic album. the sound is kinda like Dido, but with more passion and soul. thank you RP for the music!!!!

Neil Finn - Driving Me Mad (Jul 22, 2003 - 12:44) | the more i hear, the more i think that neil finn/crowded house/split enz is/are my favourite artist/group. such a great under rated voice, amazing songwriting, great sound. please play as much of this as you can.
:p
Peter Gabriel - Growing Up (Jul 18, 2003 - 14:00) | Oooooooohhhhhhh....i just DIG the beat ever so much. PG keeps re-inventing himself. from the early Genesis days, to this new stuff....what a catalog of great music.....my advice to the new listeners at RP....go out and scoff up as much PG as you can......you will never grow tired.

(pimp)
Crowded House - Into Temptation (Feb 20, 2003 - 06:45) | It's funny how you can appreciate a group more as the years go on. I seem to have missed Crowded House during the years when the music first came out. AT my next trip to FYE, think I'll check out their catalogue. Thanks for playing their music

Squeeze - Another Nail For My Heart (Feb 13, 2003 - 06:59) | Great 80's sound...upbeat, catchy, smart, funny, melodic, everything that made the 80's the 80's. never get tired of this song
Steely Dan - Aja (Feb 11, 2003 - 09:38) | Steely Dan emerged from the morass of ordinary rock n roll while i was in High School. ever since then i have embraced almost anything that is progressive. SD helped me to break away from listening to the same types of music. i feel enriched whenever i hear this song, especially. one of my all time fave albums is still CAN'T BUY A THRILL. keep playing the good stuff, Bill and friends.
:)
Kate Bush - The Big Sky (Feb 11, 2003 - 08:40) | i am so gratefull i was introduced to this remarkable talent many years ago. this must be the only "station" that plays her on a regular basis. the first 2 albums are so extraordinary, i listen to them on a regular basis. i would love to hear LIONHEART, or JAMES AND THE COLD GUN, or HAMMER HORROR. all her music is magical, and unquestionably way ahead of its time. play on, RP, and thank you.

Kate Bush - Jig of Life (Feb 08, 2003 - 13:23) | good stuff on this album.....not as haunting as her earlier work, but more energetic, more Celtic, if that makes sense.

Bruce Cockburn - Justice (Feb 06, 2003 - 09:49) | not a bad song, has a catchy Reggae beat, but might sound better if it didn't sound so polished. to me, this kind of music needs to be raw, more discordant, more rebellious, not as canned as this sounds...but i still like it anyways.
no wonder is Bob Marley was such a genius....his legacy can be heard a million times a day all over the world.
Peace, brothers
:p

Kate Bush - The Sensual World (Jan 24, 2003 - 11:41) | i have been a BIG fan of Kare Bush since the first time i heard "The Kick Inside". there used to be a show on cable years ago called NIGHTFLIGHT, highlighting new and avant-garde artists. i was lucky enough to tape those early visions of Kate Bush performing live from her first 3 albums
(yes, albums...i have all her stuff on vinyl). please play some of the early stuff like Wuthering Heights and The Kick Inside......still sounds great almost 30 years later(!!!)

Bob Marley - One Love (Jan 20, 2003 - 12:27) | THE ONE, THE ONLY, THE GREAT ONE!! THE ONLY SADNESS IS THAT HE WAS TAKEN FROM US WAY TOO SOON. A GENIUS, A POET, A MOVER AND A SHAKER.
SIMPLY THE BEST
REST IN PEACE, BROTHER

Alpha Blondy - Jerusalem (Jan 09, 2003 - 07:50) | TO ALL YOU IGNORANT PEOPLE OUT THERE....READ UP ON YOUR RASTAFARIAN BELIEFS, AND YOU MIGHT JUST UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS SONG IS ABOUT. IT'S NOT ABOUT ABOUT POLITICS, OR WHO WAS THERE FIRST, OR WHO BELONGS WHERE...ITS ABOUT FAITH
Enigma - Smell of Desire (Jan 08, 2003 - 11:56) | i have been a big fan of ENIGMA since the early days. who thought that Gregorian Chant and Native American singing could be combined so artfully. way to go, RP..you amaze me everyday with the broad selection you play.
