Not bad, but nothing special really.
Nitin Sawhney - Mausam
(Apr 24, 2006 - 16:24)
Nitin Sawhney rocks, but this is not the best proof of it, not nearly
Tori Amos - A Sorta Fairytale
(Apr 21, 2006 - 12:40)

Sounds like it was made with ACID or Garage Band. Any amateur can string samples together this way.

Thats why theyre called Loop Guru. Seems like they just take tiny bits of sounds or drum patterns and them loop them together to make songs
A Band of Bees - A Minha Menina
(Dec 29, 2005 - 09:24)
pretty cool cover!
Coldplay - White Shadows
(Dec 28, 2005 - 12:52)
Seems like Coldplay wrote all of their songs on the same year and then just sat back while their label released them bit by bit. Maybe they already have material ready for three more albums in store!
The Shins - We Will Become Silhouettes

David Byrne - Glass, Concrete & Stone
(Dec 26, 2005 - 14:15)
Should have guessed this song was coming, after that series of "Lion King" tunes....
I like this song but it always seems to be playing every time I listen in to radio paradise and that's starting to bug me a little...
Big Daddy - Once In A Lifetime
(Dec 26, 2005 - 14:11)
this just plain out sucks, whats going on here? I guess they're trying to build the playlist into some african-tropical-dancy mood, but for what purposes I can only wonder....
Little Village - Do You Want My Job
(Dec 26, 2005 - 14:07)
This sounds like something out of The Lion King soundtrack
Catie Curtis - River Winding
(Dec 26, 2005 - 14:00)
it's decent, nothing more, nothing less. Still a thousand times better than anything on commercial radio so i'm not tuning out just yet...
The Beatles - Rain
(Dec 26, 2005 - 13:48)
Great to hear this song! That sure is some mean bass playing
Medeski, Martin & Wood - Reflector
(Dec 26, 2005 - 13:45)

Still saving the 10 for something that makes my spine shiver though...
Leo Kottke - The Other Day (near Santa Cruz)

This tune sounds like Shawn Mullins with a sense of humor. :)

"...everything's gonna be allright.... rockabye..."

I'll be looking for Leo Kottke music down at Amoeba or Rasputin's...

Anyone??

Alpinestars - Burning Up
(Jul 16, 2004 - 08:08)
Why do I like this song so much?

How about those three notes, kyun kyun kyun! goooood...
Jeff Beck - Nadia
(May 27, 2004 - 16:00)
ok, I just found out that it´s actually a Nitin Sawhney song!
Damn it! Stupid me! Anyway, it´s an impressive showcase of great talent and technique by Jeff Beck
Jeff Beck - Nadia
(May 27, 2004 - 15:54)
I heard this song first by Nitin Sawhney and when I heard this one I thought maybe it was a cover by someone else or another version (I know, I´m sorry! Blame it on my youth) and I thought it had a great melody and I just love the beats, but when I realized that it was actually a song conceived by a guitarist, to be played on the guitar...well that just pushed it over to a whole new level! Coming up with a melody like that, with a guitar! I don´t know why I didn´t give it a 10! Guess I´m saving the 10´s for something that will literally kill me in the act
Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism
(May 05, 2004 - 09:46)
I have to say that little guitar part saves the song
Radiohead - Karma Police
(May 05, 2004 - 09:41)
Radiohead is simply the best!
Steve Morse - Modoc
(May 05, 2004 - 09:34)
oooooo yeah!
Ani DiFranco - What How When Where
(May 05, 2004 - 09:31)
This is just great!
I used to think of Ani Di Franco as OK, but hearing this I have to assume another position. This is pretty original and funky versus her more down tempo material. I´m lovin´it!
California Guitar Trio - Caravan
(May 05, 2004 - 09:03)
Damn!
Now that´ss what I call some heavy guitar playing!!!
Pink - Gone to California
(May 04, 2004 - 15:00)
Actually this is not so bad. It is bad, but not that bad. I mean at least it has some horns in it, so its not that crappy.
Coldplay - High Speed

It's so hard not to compare Coldplay to Radiohead... so I did:

I highly suggest playing "High Speed", then playing "Subterranean Homesick Alien" off of OK Computer. The similarity is really astounding. And I mean this in the most flattering of ways...

I have to admit the guitar textures in this song are very similar to those in Subterranean Homesick Alien. BUT, overall Radiohead is on a much higher level than Coldplay, in every aspect. Don´t get me wrong. I like Coldplay. But I just don´t see how they can be compared with Radiohead. They aren´t innovative, Radiohead is. Coldplay has a much more mainstream sound. Radiohead is everything Coldplay lacks: great lyrics, incredible mood setting and complex melodies and arrangements, catchy and yet dark riffs and beats.
I am pretty sure how the next Coldlpay album will sound, but I have no idea what the next Radiohead album is gonna sound like, so that´s just another big difference.
Guster - Airport Song
(Apr 30, 2004 - 14:27)
Why the hell hadn´t I heard this band before???!!!!!%@#*&º!!!!!!
Darn good.
Alpinestars - Burning Up
(Apr 30, 2004 - 14:24)
Nice!
i´m liking this,
and looking forward to more music from this guys.
The sound of the piano reminds me of Radiohead
