Yeah - I've heard this is his MO. ....but still gotta love some of his music.

Wow.

Ironically, I haven't heard this song since my college girlfriend stole this double tape set from me.

Saw Joe Jackson in concert somewhere around 1990 in Lowell, Massachusetts and he stopped the show because people were singing along with him to the music.

Certainly no shortage of self-importance on his part.

Booker T. & The M.G.s - Green Onions

Interesting - I thought it sorta sounded Rockpile or Nick Lowe-ish at the beginning. Never the less - love it - love Bowie in general.
Bird York - Up In Flames

Okay, I have to start out by saying that Kind of Blue deserves it place as one of the greatest albums of all time (across all genres) and personally I worship at the altar of St. John Coltrane...

That said, RP plays almost no jazz and when it does it goes for only the most well-known stuff. It seems to me that the adventurousness that is applied to rock should be applied to playing jazz here.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kind of Blue, but it's the album that people put on when they only have one jazz album and want to show you that they dig jazz.
Play me something new, something I haven't heard or haven't heard in a long time, don't go for the easy to find stuff.

End of rant.

And I just gotta say, I am so thankful that RP plays such a wide range of stuff. I love it - it's bound to go thru genres that some may not like but that's ok. It may open some people's minds to new stuff they haven't heard before.... or it may just cause some to turn of the stream for a while. That's ok - it's all good!

Tack this on to Kenny G's long list of crimes, for which he will hopefully someday be punished.

Agreed!!! ....except that actually my favorite cut on the album is Chrissy doing Axis - oh my GAWD... but this has such a great groove, is original and still retains the stuff of the original.

Great song, overplayed.

Definitely a great song. Overplayed is certainly subjective but I don't seem to hear enough John Hiatt and it doesn't seem like many folks know of john hiatt. He's a very wonderful song writer/artist so hopefully a little more over play will get the word out!
Big Head Todd & The Monsters - Love Transmission
(Mar 26, 2004 - 14:37)

Eric Clapton - Reconsider Baby

Comment on this song and several other comments made here.....

1- Love it! EC shows wonderful feeling. Some of the best stuff he's done.
2- That babysitter comment was totally uncalled for. Obviously not a parent.....
3- Who cares if it's after SRV (one of my heros). Don't make it a competition - enjoy both or don't like one but not because SRV's better or worse! That logic means you can only like the best!

.....must be late in the day, I'm ranting #-o

Joan is amazing singing with the Funk Bros. She also does a kicker little number on this album with Me'shell (who was also on the Funk Bros. Standin') and Chef (Isaac Hayes)- "Smiling Faces".

Audioslave - Hypnotize

Love this stuff .....loved Rage, loved Cornell (sp) & Soundgarden but, more importantly, I love what these folks have created together.

....kinda surprised to see some of the rage (ok - pun intended) in this review thread - Geez. Lighten up everyone - you're gonna hear a great tune soon if ya don't like this one!
Joni Mitchell - Love or Money

Surprised to see such a bunch of extremely negative comments. Personally, love this stuff on many levels. Robben Ford's (love him) beginning into more jazz idioms, Tom Scott & LA Xpress - love 'em! It's been a while but isn't Jaco on this album? Geez, Jaco is on the top of my bass player list! And last but not least, Joni - so much variety through her career...... love this!.

Oh well - to each their own :)
