I am sorry. Her point wasn't about negativity. I misunderstood I see now it was about feelings and tone. My mistake.
Actually, the thing that got me going about her comment is "Where is this negativity/hate?" Someone said they didnt like it. Someone made a joke about the Israeli Barry... This is bordering on hate? Give me a break!

Only three minutes or so long, and yet it moves through a greater variety of textures in that time than many longer tracks manage; not in any kind of rush, just thoroughly naturally. Lovely opening, and where it goes is somewhere quite stirring. Unfortunate to read about the background of the band (and presumable genesis of the song), though. Bit of a downer, all that.
A variety of textures may be found in any sewer as well....

Awful system we live in now? I'd love to know which system of the past you would prefer?
I think we are so spoiled and most of use do not even know it. As a result we make comments about our awful system and make preparations to fix our American system by pushing ourselves ever further towards socialism. Our system could be improved no doubt. But the medicine may be worse than the disease. Someday we may be telling our grandchildren how Great America was, just as Brits do today.

Hard to argue with...... I don't really follow Bono much. Anyone that says we should stop giving aid to Africa and instead trade with her, has got some smarts. How many more times are we going to send $B to African dictators to squirreled away in Swiss accounts or simply wasted. We would be better served to give the $ to American farmers to compensate them while we go about removing tariffs on imports of cotton, honey, dairy, grains, etc. Let Africa compete. I believe International Charity is unconstitutional. It is a tough call, because we need American Farms, especially small farms.

The singer's name dates back to the one she gave when arrested in 1984 at a protest called "The War Chest Tour" during the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco, California. The demonstration challenged the practice of U.S. corporations giving campaign contributions to both Democratic and Republican parties, thus benefiting from political favors regardless of which party is elected. "Michelle Shocked" was a play on words intended to resemble the phrase "shell shocked." The front cover of one of her best-known albums, Short Sharp Shocked, shows her restrained by the chokehold of a San Francisco policeman in a front-page photograph published by the San Francisco Examiner the following day.

"This kind of discrimination has an economically devastating impact on women and their families."
It's telling that you leave "experience" out of the "full-time, year round" criteria for equal pay.
The reason women make less is because they often choose to leave the work place to have babies. When they come back to work 15 years later, they make less. They have 15 years less experience!

This line doesn't ring true. My dog only stares at meaningful things, like food, or her master, or other dogs, or interesting sounds.
When she's relaxed, she lies with her eyes half closed. "Staring" isn't the right word for that at all.
"Lying in the dust" or "sleeping in the dust" maybe?
Ummm, I think it isnt really the dust that the dog is looking at...it is instead that his master just drove down the road creating the dust. The dog is looking for him, but sees only dust.

Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine (Oct 20, 2006 - 11:01) | "Extraordinary Machine"
I certainly haven't been shopping for any new shoes
-And-
I certainly haven't been spreading myself around
I still only travel by foot and by foot, it's a slow climb,
But I'm good at being uncomfortable, so
I can't stop changing all the time
I notice that my opponent is always on the go
-And-
Won't go slow, so's not to focus, and I notice
He'll hitch a ride with any guide, as long as
They go fast from whence he came
- But he's no good at being uncomfortable, so
He can't stop staying exactly the same
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it, the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me, or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine
I seem to you to seek a new disaster every day
You deem me due to clean my view and be at piece and lay
I mean to prove I mean to move in my own way, and say,
I've been getting along for long before you came into the play
I am the baby of the family, it happens, so
- Everybody cares and wears the sheeps' clothes
While they chaperone
Curious, you looking down your nose at me, while you appease
- Courteous, to try and help - but let me set your
Mind at ease
(Chorus)
-Do I so worry you, you need to hurry to my side?
-It's very kind
But it's to no avail; I don't want the bail
I promise you, everything will be just fine
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it, the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me, or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine

If it will play on your computer, you can always rip it and then burn a new audio disk. I use Exact Audio Copy (EAC) with Lame. EAC is the best (smartest) ripper. It will reread damaged areas on a disk repeatedly and try to determine what was originally there statistically. It will also use your CD drive's hardware capabilities if it is a good one. Most rippers just blaze through and copy crap with there are errors on the disk.
