You will not get much of an argument on this from any of Bob's peers or those who thrive performing their own reggae today.

Amadou & Mariam - Masiteladi (Nov 02, 2010 - 08:43) | Bluesgrrl wrote: What does Masiteladi mean?
From yahoo answers...
The expression "Massi téladi" is definitely not French; it is Bamanankan, one of the national languages of Mali; a land-locked sub-Saharan country in West Africa, once a French colony. It would appear looking at the lyrics of the song, by Amadou Bagayoko & Mariam Doumbia, most of which I have been able to translate into English. The phrase ("Massi téladi") in relation to the lyrics, seems to point to the possibility that it could, and this is a stab in the dark because it makes sense because of the relationship, mean "unlucky" - it seems to fit. Unless we have somebody in this community who reads, writes and speaks Bamanankan then we will not get a definitive answer.
Note: The original lyrics were written bi-lingual, part French, part Bamanankan Sorry - best I can do.
Personal note: I like this CD.

Well, they're not American or European; they're African. African music is primarily percussive, which includes even stringed instuments being played with a percussive technique. When you consider the lengthy history of Afican music (think 'chanting', call and response, and their traditional unequal rhythm sections ) and plug it all in for modern amplification, I'd say these guys produce an amazing, often joyful blend of kickass music.

And if the station persists, they get their business license yanked. I'm sure there are ins and outs regarding internet radio vs. commercial radio broadcasting with advertisements and sponsors. This has been happening for years - when the Who came out with "Who Are You?" most radio stations weren't required to censor it. In return, I promise not to trash something you like as though I've just uttered something that ought to have been obvious to you without my help.
For me, the creative energy on display - how many bands create multiple arrangements of a hit song - to play live and keep things interesting for both themselves and their audience? Not many. This is the only I know of. Besides, Jack Cassidy's bass playing on this song runs rings around the melody without ever failing to define the rhythmic punch the song needs - my OPINION, of course, with which many will quite reasonably and freely disagree.
PS: to Zep - I bet you have no musical talent, either. Might explain your cavalier attitude to criticism.

The energy exchange between them and the band (tight and spooky)was magical. The crowd had a blast and the performers were stoked. A truly memorable concert.

From Wiki...
"God's Gonna Cut You Down", also known as "Run On", is a traditional folk song which has been recorded by numerous artists representing a variety of genres
The song has, in the past, been modified to fit the boundaries of genres like country, folk, gospel and techno. As "God's Gonna Cut You Down", it was performed by Odetta on Odetta Sings Ballads and Blues (1956) and Johnny Cash on the posthumously released American V: A Hundred Highways (2006). As "Run On", it was recorded, among others, by Elvis Presley. A version featuring vocals by Bill Landford & The Landfordaires was remixed by Moby and features on his album Play."
