I respect that there are many who hate Neil Young but he is just brilliant IMHO.  I feel like many of his songs are "absorbed" by my being, transcending the simple experience of "hearing." 

Seems that most people just vote on songs they like or really hate. How else does this rate so high (7.5 at the time of this writing)? I give it a 3.

heard PS being interviewed once and he explained how he usually wrote the music first including the melody and then came up with the lyrics - and now it's so obvious whenever I listen to him that it irritates me a bit - the words always sound shoe-horned and clunky - unlike the music which feels so much more natural

I don't understand all this U2 bashing. Bands evolve and change. Yes, their sound has changed. But is that so bad? Evolution is good. And yes, before I get jumped on, I am aware of U2's entire collection. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb is obviously nothing like War or the Joshua Tree, but why should it be? Artists are creative, and the best of them are constantly reinventing themselves.
