How many times will you Reggae dweebs listen to the same tune/rhythm/sentiments and say "It's just as terrific as the last 1,000 times I heard this same piece dressed up as though it's new work".  This guy wrote "I Shot the Sheriff" then came to the end of originality and innovation.  Surely this is THE most boring of all popular music genres:  tedium and tediumer!

It's very hard to avoid flaming after such an ignorant comment. Enya is a Celt, Azam Ali a Persian, and their works come from their different cultural and musical traditions. Other than being women singers, they've got f*ck-all to do with each other. The idea of Azam Ali ripping off Enya is just bonkers.

My top 5 Zep songs?... it's impossble to rank them. Today I'd agree with the list below, tonight it'd be 5 different songs. It's like trying to rate your favorite breath of air.

 

The rare Stones album with no filler.  Solid start to finish.

If you were alive in 1982 and listened to the radio at all, you have heard this song a million times. In the 80s and 90s, there were very few eclectic choices on the radio so if you listened to any commercial radio at all, you HAD to hear this song a million times or more. Now?? Who knows? I have not disgraced the air that I breathe with any Clear channel station in 20 years or more so that may be the case now.

I couldn't agree with this sentiment more.  I feel like there's an element I'm just not getting that the rest of the world is.  They sound very corporate to me, much like Nickleback or Cold Play.  I'm not saying that they are corporate, nor am I sound they sound like those groups— it's just they way they feel.  They're boring enough to make me put on something else whenever I hear them.

They're not even bad enough to get a bad rating from me.  I gave them a five.  That's just how average they sound.

I'm liking this so much more than the first single they released off the album.  That one made me disinterested in the album.  This one - makes me think a listen to the rest may be due

Amazing that this album came out right between the peak of disco (which i know people think of as a "70's" thing but it really peaked between 77 and 82....) and 80's hair-bands/Wham/Madonna/depeche mode (what do we call that genre?).

I'm guessing there's not a single artist, band or song on RP that at least one listener would'nt like removed from the playlist, so when I see the tedious "Bill, stop playing this crap" request yet again, it's just so predictable and obnoxious. If Bill heeded every such request we'd be left with nothing but dead air. If U2's not your cup of tea, do what I do when Tori Amos comes on, hit the mute button or try another station for a while.
 

It's unexplainable to me - that any fan of good rock-music
is willing to accept this wishi-washi late-Hippy rubbish without
drive and even melody. Terrible cover as well (as most Floyd cover).

I am stunned each time I read positive reviews. People sometimes write
"mute" when they dislike songs. And possibly do not. When
I here Floyd (with the single exception of "See Emily play") I cannot
help it, but mute RP. There are only very few other bands or songs
when I do the same (Talking Heads with 80% of their songs, are another
example). Floyd? Sorry - they are really a no-go for somebody like me
who likes "real rock" of the authentic kind.

I love the moodiness of this piece, the buildup and everything.  I keep imagining driving down a highway somewhere in southern France in late summer with this playing.  Is the whole album this good?

This is a song that simply should not be touched. The original was cast in a mold quickly broken by those whose ears were first blessed by its magic, when they soon realized the impossibility of improving upon perfection.

Meh, they were both out of fresh ideas by this point.  The Wall was their last good album (and frankly, as whole, I find it a bit overrated).  I mean have you ever listened to The Final Cut?  It's really, really awful. At least I can listen to a couple of songs from Momentary Lapse of Reason or Division Bell without repressing an urge to inducing vomiting.

Because of RP I was turned on to TC a couple of years ago. I took my son in law to a TC concert here in Houston recently and it just blew us away! Unbelievable! Lost count on the number of vocalists but it was at least 5-7. Son in law, who is a musician, has a degree in music performance and is finishing his Masters in music got a whole new appreciation for performance by two dudes, two turntables and and a mega back up band. Worth every penny.

Long a favorite of mine. Back in the days of "underground FM radio" a DJ that I really liked used this as his intro. I can remember being shocked when I found out it was Jefferson Airplane.

Why do I find so many artists on RP so interesting, and Poe so very mundane and forgettable?

Coldplay is a an afterthought, unoriginal and would not exist if not for U2's style.  Overrated???  HMMM...that would be Zappa, Pearl Jam, Tull, Nirvana, Genesis, Phish and that's just the tip of the iceberg.  U2, however, transcends.

Not particularly fond of the Heads but this one is kinda cool.

Really?  I find this song very derivative of Amos' work.  Teng pulls it off, and puts her own touch on it.  But they're both treading familiar ground, IMO.

I must have been a Reverse "Touch Head" then. I initially thought that the Dead sucked because all I knew was Touch of Grey. I was about 15 when that song was released as a single. Little did I know that the song had been performed live for years before that. Once I listened to the concert stuff, I was hooked. It took a bit to overcome listening to Touch of Grey on every radio station for a while though.

The Grateful Dead is my favorite band. Why am I not more of a Phish fan? I can't seem to figure it out...

I think this artist needs to take a rest from the RP playlist for a while....overstaying their welcome and only an average-talented group.

Two super guitar players - great technique, but the vocals drag it down.  The original's still better than this cover, IMHO.
