Bill Withers - Lean on Me
(May 18, 2013 - 20:42)
I am with you Bill.
I never seem to tire of this song either & have heard it many many times.
A classic.

Caro Emerald - That Man
(May 04, 2013 - 16:33)
I may have said this before, or just thought it. You know about that.

Good song but there were no answering machines when the phone numbers had 5 digits.
Just nit picking I know.

Jake Shimabukuro - While My Guitar Gently Weeps
(Apr 20, 2013 - 19:13)
Nothing will help this one, cow bell, nothing.
Sorry Bill, really dislike the Uke stuff.
PSD is such a great feature, thanks!

The Kinks - You Really Got Me
(Dec 29, 2012 - 17:59)
There must have been more than 2 comments about this song.
There is a lot of history here.

Chuck Berry - You Never Can Tell
(Dec 21, 2012 - 17:41)
I don't understand why some of the greatest R & R artists think this song is..........I don't know, "classic".
It just seems so forgettable, nothing of a song.
Not good, not bad but so, soso.

Songs are like fashion & there is no accounting for taste.

Electric Light Orchestra - Roll Over Beethoven
(Dec 21, 2012 - 17:30)

Was never really an ELO fan. This is OK to hear occasionally, but it would never be included in a personal collection.

I agree whole heartily.

Are we snobs?

SuperHeavy - Common Ground
(Aug 30, 2012 - 19:31)
It isn't any of the players, it is the song itself.
Just puts me one the edge & trying to push me off.

The Guess Who - No Sugar Tonight
(Aug 24, 2012 - 18:19)
Caught them on the way up at a high school dance.

WOW!

Rick Wakeman - Life On Mars?
(Jun 15, 2012 - 18:19)
Although the original was great, this sounds like a poor cover by a lounge lizard at the holiday inn.
He is a great musician when playing with others but left to his own devices something is lacking.
Too many notes?
Sorry Rick.

Noir Désir - Le Vent Nous Portera
(May 30, 2012 - 19:14)
You probably shouldn't listen to any of the songs that Jim Gordon drummed on either.

Great talent. Got sick. Can happen to anyone, even you.

Cantat killed two women and his band's future.
I don't want to hear this song again, Bill, Rebecca, sorry.
I cannot stand listening to the product of a psychotic murderer, however talented.

Yo-Yo Ma & Friends - Attaboy
(May 21, 2012 - 11:34)
You got it right, annoying. Great musicians or not.

tutakea wrote:

ewww, I'd agree with that.

Others?

How about The Yes Album, Fragile and Close To The Edge.

Also Something/Anything, A Wizard a True Star and Todd.

Never was much of a Rundgren fan.

Yes......Yes.

How about

Other Lives - Dust Bowl III
(Apr 30, 2012 - 16:55)
Keeps getting better.
7 to 8

Robin Trower - Bridge Of Sighs
(Apr 26, 2012 - 18:05)
Absolutely one of a kind......great.
Thank you Bill

Genesis - Watcher of the Skies
(Apr 26, 2012 - 16:18)
This was the very first song I ever heard from Genesis.
No warm up act, lights out.......... then wham!.... spotlight on Peter with his painted eyes & they just took us away for a tour I will never forget.
It was sitting on the floor of a gymnasium at Queens University. (Kingston, Ontario, Canada)
They just blew me away. Amazing!
What an amazing night.

Maybe we should ban "emoticons" instead.

Banning emotions would make for a very dull world full of stoic robots, where we would have to guess people's intentions.

Yes you are right.
Spelling........... and proof reading

Yes, you are clueless.
Kathleen is her own person.
Suzanne Vega & Peter Gabriel  I am sure, seek inspiration from Kathleen.

Merrie Amsterburg - Walking On The Moon
(Mar 03, 2012 - 12:47)

I'm with most of the rest of you, didn't care for the original & this is no improvement on it.

What I'm worried about is are we now going to hear a Police tune next?

Thank you for the"PSD" button.

Boy & Bear - Feeding Line
(Mar 02, 2012 - 18:50)

Not even close!

Indigo Girls - Sugar Tongue
(Mar 02, 2012 - 18:44)
The guitar stuff kinda reminds me of The Beatles.

Mark Knopfler - What It Is
(Mar 02, 2012 - 18:40)
Knophler & Carlos, tiresome.

Nick Drake - Which Will
(Mar 02, 2012 - 18:26)

Nick, certainly one of a kind.

Simply wonderful.

Chris Bathgate - Eliza
(Mar 02, 2012 - 18:15)

Ya wavelength near the end, just the fiddle.

The song itself, great stuff.

Patti Smith - So You Want To Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star
(Mar 02, 2012 - 18:05)

Patti.......is the best.

Truly an original, one of a kind.

Feist - Caught A Long Wind
(Mar 02, 2012 - 17:22)

What an  amazing talent.

There are not many that can give you goose bumps from just a squeeze on a note.

Of Monsters and Men - Dirty Paws
(Feb 27, 2012 - 16:27)
So happy you keep finding gems for us.

Khachaturian - Sabre Dance
(Feb 26, 2012 - 08:02)
Ed Sullivan & jugglers..............right?

Mocean Worker - Shooby Shooby Do Yah!
(Feb 24, 2012 - 19:01)
Love the song, but hate the friggin bananas!
The icon things are moronic, truly infantile. Aren't they?
Could we ban the use of "emotions" ?

Tom Waits - Little Drop of Poison
(Feb 24, 2012 - 17:20)
I used to hate Tom but over the years have come to love....well most of his stuff.
Always lots of whit & lots of tongue in cheek.
Very smart man. Singer?
Funny thing about singers, note perfect & no emotion = dead, rough sounding & emotion =soul.

Gorillaz - On Melancholy Hill

I tuned in right after missing Mumford and Sons, and Ray Lamontagne whom I really enjoy.  Since then it has been an unmerciful line-up of garbage.

Well Ozzie they continued to make new music after Jim Morrison died.

Dan Mangan - Leaves, Trees, Forest
(Feb 15, 2012 - 20:00)
Managed to catch Dan a couple of times. Great fun.
A great talent.
This is not one of my favorite tunes but it is growing on me.
I do hope his next album catches fire with many more to come.

Kings of Leon - Arizona
(Feb 06, 2012 - 20:20)
There have been many "singers" over the years that don't seem to carry a tune.

We have heard that about how Mr. Dylan, Mr. Young and many other artists can't sing?
What about the soul of the tune. Joe Cocker (early stuff), Adel, Eric Burdon, Ray Charles, Van Morrison & many old blues singers. They all have our love from the way they sing.
Johnny Cash wasn't a tuneful singer but is much regarded.
Soul counts for much. Frankly, more than pitch.
There are many singers with no soul. Pitch perfect, but empty.
That said, they can perform  in a way that makes them stars.

So what is it?

Some care for tone, or execution of scale, others the execution of soul.
There is more to "singing" than tone & tune.

Jeff Beck - Going Down
(Jan 21, 2012 - 19:56)
How in the world can that song be meh, kinda bla?
One of Beck's best Lp's of which he has had many.
The great thing about Jeff is that one LP doesn't sound like the next.
Thank you Jeff & thank you Bill & Co. for playing the best of the best, always.

The Barr Brothers - Give The Devil Back His Heart
(Jan 19, 2012 - 17:04)
Black Keys meet, ya maybe The Who.

Great stuff.
Thanks for keeping us in the new.
Just watched a couple of their videos. Excellent.
http://thebarrbrothers.com/
Expect to hear more from them.
Thanks Again.

Mumford & Sons - Dust Bowl Dance
(Jan 12, 2012 - 16:26)
I only hope that their next LP is close to being as excellent as this one is.

Jethro Tull - We Used To Know
(Jan 12, 2012 - 15:31)
Was privileged to have seen them a number of times.
One of my favorite bands.
So glad they had few top 10 hits.
That often seems to ruin the good ones. (Genesis)

Missy Higgins - Secret
(Jan 06, 2012 - 18:04)
Just one more great song in your (our) repertoire.

Do you still have fun picking songs for us?
I sure hope so.

Thank you Bill & Rebecka & family.
We do love what you give us & give us willingly.

Elbow - Mirrorball
(Jan 05, 2012 - 19:35)
If this wasn't a wonderful song Mr. Gabriel would not have covered it.
I don't think he nailed it though.
Keep it up Elbow!

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
(Jan 05, 2012 - 19:28)
Funny to see the comments now & to remember what was said in 1973.
Lots of disparaging comments then about Mr. Bowie & crew.

The song? Yes, changed the music world.
Kind of the way "I want to hold your hand" changed the world. Though, not quite the same scale.
Made it turn the corner at least.

Bonobo - Between The Lines (feat. Bajka)
(Jan 05, 2012 - 18:51)
Getting to think these folks are simply fantastic.

Yes they are!

The Clash - London Calling
(Jan 05, 2012 - 18:37)
Heard it a million times & will still love it next time I hear it.
Only the best stand up the test of time.

Indigo Girls - Second Time Around
(Jan 01, 2012 - 10:48)
I just love this song.

Dead Can Dance - The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove
(Jan 01, 2012 - 09:36)
There you are again.

Boz Scaggs - I'll Be Long Gone
(Dec 18, 2011 - 18:31)
Thanks, I loved his early stuff. Too bad he went what schmaltzy?

The Decemberists - This Is Why We Fight
(Dec 09, 2011 - 19:52)
This is why we listen to Radio Paradise.
This is why we vote for a great song and band.

Gomez - Just As Lost As You

Many things will become clear.

The Audreys - More To A Sinner

Simply a wonderful band.
Warms my heart & can give me goosebumps.

The Decemberists - Foregone
(Nov 29, 2011 - 18:58)
I know I should have snapped up this cd.
Thanks.

The National - Afraid of Everyone
(Nov 26, 2011 - 17:26)
Like most great music it takes repeated listens then not hearing it for a while then fall in love with it.
Why is that I wonder?

Andrew Bird - Fiery Crash
(Nov 26, 2011 - 16:49)
I really enjoy Andrews tunes.
Don't know why just do.

Ray LaMontagne - Empty
(Nov 22, 2011 - 16:23)
Ray is one of the reasons I tip my hat to you folks.

WONDERFUL

Guster - Ruby Falls
(Nov 22, 2011 - 05:27)
May have said before, just love it.
That's it that's all.

Oi Va Voi - Refugee
(Nov 20, 2011 - 13:56)
Great tune.

Ebba Forsberg - Daybreak
(Nov 15, 2011 - 20:48)
I just love this song.
It was released 10 years ahead of the curve.
Thanks Bill & Co. for your incredible, maybe incurable selections.

Emmylou Harris - The Road
(Nov 12, 2011 - 16:01)
I never thought much of Emmylou but I just love her new LP.

THANKS to Bill & Co

Nick Cave & Neko Case - She's Not There
(Nov 09, 2011 - 19:18)
One of my favorite 60's tunes.
Not so sure of this version....yet.
What a team, Cave & Case. Not a team I would expect.
Off to see Neko in a very small venue this Dec. (Kingston Ontario Canada)
Can't wait.

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
(Nov 04, 2011 - 17:46)
While not my favorite Tull it is very unique to the rock world.
I saw them do Passion Play & as well as some other concerts.
One of my all time favorite bands.
Thanks for that.
Have you seen this?
Thick as a Brick Live in 2012 World Tour. WOW!

How about "Suppers Ready"?

Thank you for the very best music on the planet.
I almost hate to go to sleep for fear I might miss some great set.

James McMurtry - Choctaw Bingo
(Oct 17, 2011 - 18:41)
Just toooo long.

The Knack - My Sharona
(Oct 11, 2011 - 16:46)
Played to death.
It is still dead.
About 12 "My Sherona's" to many.

Emerson Lake & Palmer - Stones Of Years
(Sep 28, 2011 - 19:56)
Saw these guys a few times & they were always amazing.
Last time I saw them was at Canada's Wonderland 1996.
They opened for Jethro Tull, incredibly.
Sat front row center. Very Lucky SOB.
An incredible experience from incredible bands.
To see two of my all time favorite bands on one bill....WOW.

Stone's of Years......HISTORY.

Dan Mangan - Road Regrets
(Aug 16, 2011 - 17:35)
Have you people even listened to the song?
Do you have your computer hooked up to your old AM radio?
There is angst, openness, heart and soul, not to mention humour in his songs.
The real deal.
I saw this guy in a small venue. WOW, what a show!

Check out the animated video of this song.

The Decemberists - Don't Carry It All
(Aug 16, 2011 - 17:17)
This band is  great & I hope they are around for years to come.

Robbie Robertson - Straight Down the Line
(Aug 16, 2011 - 17:03)
Why do a lot of you folks always have to compare this and that to another artist or time?

Break out, let it find your soul.

This is simply "fine" music.
Turn it up some more! Then more again.

Blood Sweat & Tears - I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know
(Jan 26, 2011 - 20:32)
One of my all time favorite songs.
Few have done better.
Even decades later it is still there.

Julie Miller - Strange Lover
(Dec 28, 2010 - 18:14)
Loved it.
Thanks for the variety.

Isaac Hayes - Walk On By
(Sep 09, 2010 - 19:45)
There were a lot of long songs on 1969.
Not all of them could have been released today & still sounded contemporary.
Yes, a few minutes shaved off the end would not have been missed but damn, it is a fine song.
Thanks, Bill & Rebeca

THE BEST STATION ON EARTH!

The Police - Spirits In The Material World
(Aug 22, 2010 - 19:39)
The "Police" are the only band I turn OFF on the "WONDERFUL" RP.

I just don't like them, never have.

Mumford & Sons - White Blank Page
(Jul 30, 2010 - 16:54)

I can't stop listening to this disk.
Great new stuff!

Thanks Bill

Steppenwolf - Desperation
(Aug 13, 2009 - 20:04)

Steppenwolf were a wonderful band but for some reason got a bad rap.

Monster (the Lp) was great.

We all had & have our favorites.

Listen to more Steppenwolf, they did some great stuff.

Jethro Tull - Nothing Is Easy
(Nov 05, 2008 - 19:54)
Great tune. Love their first 3 lp's.
Hit & miss after that.
Seen them a number of times.
Great in concert.
