Basement Jaxx - Day of The Sunflowers - We March On (feat Yoko Ono)
(Feb 10, 2010 - 12:31)
Eclectic fo' sho'...

Jefferson Airplane - Wooden Ships
(Dec 09, 2009 - 12:37)
Must have been some serious acid being used when they recorded this thing.

Michael Jackson - Thriller
(Oct 30, 2009 - 15:30)
Wow that was painful.  Good thing Halloween only comes once a year.

James McMurtry - Choctaw Bingo
(Oct 28, 2009 - 15:08)
Brilliant songwriter!

Led Zeppelin - The Rain Song
(Oct 26, 2009 - 12:42)
It's songs like this that remind me what an incredible singer Robert Plant is.

The Avett Brothers - The Perfect Space
(Oct 21, 2009 - 10:44)
Ben Folds Five?

Sweet - Love Is Like Oxygen
(Oct 15, 2009 - 08:42)
Now you just need to play Ballroom Blitz and I can die a happy man...

Lynyrd Skynyrd - I Know A Little
(Jul 06, 2009 - 16:37)
Agreed, this is great stuff.  I also love their cover of Call me the Breeze, the horns on that song rock.

Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to Love (live)
(Mar 24, 2009 - 13:36)
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that they might have been under the influence of some type of controlled substance when they made this recording!

Howling Bells - In The Woods
(Mar 13, 2009 - 10:37)
Mazzy Star?

Howling Bells - In The Woods
(Mar 13, 2009 - 10:35)
Belly?

Sarah Fimm - Counting Waves

Yep.  Blatant rip-off.

Isaac Hayes - Walk On By
(Jan 16, 2009 - 10:43)
(heavy sigh)

Miss you Chef...

RPWL - Masters Of War
(Jan 05, 2009 - 13:33)
This song is Pink Floyd's On the Turning Away with about two minor changes.

ABBA - Fernando
(Dec 15, 2008 - 16:12)
I don't care what they say about you Bill - your sets ROCK!  Great to hear this schlop following Jenny Lewis's "See Fernando."

Cloud Cult - When Water Comes to Life
(Oct 07, 2008 - 10:59)
ho-hum song but wow, to hear this following Vivaldi's Summer - THAT is why I love Radio Paradise.  Fantastic job putting these sets together Bill!

Violent Femmes - Crazy
(Sep 09, 2008 - 14:43)
Absolutely perfect!

The Rave-Ups - Positively Lost Me
(Jun 02, 2008 - 12:01)

Thank you Porgie! I have been enlightened.
Blood Sweat & Tears - I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know
(Jan 16, 2008 - 17:26)
This is the song that Paul Schaffer sometimes sings on Letterman when he does that big dramatic falling down thing then someone famous comes out, covers him with a cape and tries to help him off stage.

Question is...Who is Paul is imitating there? I don't think it's Kooper. I think I remember seeing some ancient music video where some soul singer was doing the original version of that act. Would love to know who that was.
School of Fish - Speechless
(Sep 13, 2007 - 16:40)
Definite flashback material. Saw these guys play at at crappy bar in Sacramento called the Cattle Club. They put on a good show.
Rodrigo y Gabriela - Stairway to Heaven
(Sep 13, 2007 - 10:34)
Getting tired of this one...a little too high in the rotation lately!
Midnight Oil - Blue Sky Mine (live acoustic)
(Sep 06, 2007 - 15:11)
sniff! I miss the Oils. Saw them live 3 times, including once in a tiny drunken pub in Sydney's western suburbs. Those guys put on some amazing shows.
Emiliana Torrini - Sunny Road
(Jun 15, 2007 - 15:13)
Hmmm...kinda dull.
Blondie vs The Doors - Rapture Riders
(Jun 08, 2007 - 16:45)
OMG those two songs actually work quite well together!
Electric Light Orchestra - From The Sun To The World (Boogie No. 1)
(Jun 06, 2007 - 15:45)
Wow those guys put out some trippy music. I didn't think you could work piano and violins into the same song like that!
The Move - The Words Of Aaron
(Jun 01, 2007 - 10:39)
This is one of the reasons I love Radio Paradise. Since the 70's I've heard DJ's describing ELO's song Do Ya as originally done by "The Move." Now I have actually heard a song by "The Move."...firt time ever!

And even with that I have to agree, The Words of Aaron is a pretty crappy song.
Frida Snell - Bullet With Butterfly Wings
(May 18, 2007 - 14:34)
oh my this is bad.
Electric Light Orchestra - 10538 Overture
(May 10, 2007 - 12:04)
Wow EXCELLENT choice, I don't think I've heard this since the 70's. This is just so much more interesting than most music being recorded today.
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt
(Apr 26, 2007 - 16:58)
oooof this is bad. Cash's version is so much better!
The Pretenders - The Wait
(Mar 23, 2007 - 16:16)
Great that you played this along with Space Invader. There's a reason they put those two songs back to back on the album, they go together perfectly. We saw the Pretenders play here in SLO a few years back. Great show and Crissy is sexy as ever.
Elbow - My Very Best
(Jan 08, 2007 - 15:36)
These guys sound like Super Furry Animals to me.
Ozric Tentacles - Bizarre Bazaar
(Dec 14, 2006 - 16:36)
Blecchh!
Muse - City of Delusion
(Sep 21, 2006 - 16:42)
Radiohead meets Rush meets Calexico meets Queensryche. Eclectic? Yep...
Ekova - Siip Siie
(Aug 16, 2006 - 09:58)
first heard this song while I was at Burning Man a few years ago, was instantly hooked. There are heaps of independent low wattage radio stations that set up at bman, you hear some really interesting radio out there.
Black Box Recorder - Wonderful Life
(Aug 04, 2006 - 11:28)
Sounds like the theme from the Jetsons.
The Pretenders - Space Invader
(Jun 26, 2006 - 10:30)
Love this. It would be great to hear Precious played from this album. Now there's a nice and angry song.
Filter - Take A Picture
(May 23, 2006 - 13:34)
crappy repetitive pop song!
Stan Ridgway - Drive, She Said
(May 16, 2006 - 16:44)
Stan Ridgway is just so cool. And pretty under appreciated I think..
Inara George - Fools in Love
(Feb 27, 2006 - 10:16)
Boring...the original is so much better.
James McMurtry - Red Dress
(Feb 06, 2006 - 14:09)
Saw James McMurtry last week here in SLO, he put on a great show. Love his lyrics, nice and cynical.
Johnny Cash - One
(Sep 15, 2005 - 13:56)
Well I for one love this!

And nice job Bill playing this after Social Distortion's version of Ring of Fire. I love it - Social D covering Johnny, followed by Johnny covering U2! Brilliant.
Queen - Radio Ga Ga
(Sep 14, 2005 - 13:35)
Queen's music got so bad toward the end there. This song is a prime example of what a band shouldn't become. And it certainly doesn't belong on this fine station.
The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
(Jul 28, 2005 - 16:10)
What a morbid song. Those goth kids are so gloomy all the time!
Dave Alvin - Ashgrove
(Jun 23, 2005 - 09:10)
This guy is seriously talented and seriously under rated.
Shawn Colvin - Fearless heart
(Jun 23, 2005 - 09:00)
This is one of the few songs on RP that make me turn the volume all the way down until it's over! She's just too enthusiastic or something, really bugs me.
Donna Summer - I Feel Love
(May 09, 2005 - 16:20)
Thanks for taking me back to seventh grade. After 28 years I had finally gotten it out of my head, now it's back.
The Evolution Control Committee - Rocked
(Apr 25, 2005 - 10:22)
I like it. These guys also do a hysterical piece called "The F*cking Moon." MP3's on their site http://evolution-control.com/
Robyn Hitchcock - Balloon Man
(Apr 21, 2005 - 16:19)
"it rained like a slow divorce "

Boy can I relate to that image.
Bright Eyes - At the Bottom of Everything
(Mar 31, 2005 - 15:56)
Violent Femmes ripoff?
Kruder & Dorfmeister - Sha
(Mar 31, 2005 - 12:10)
not at all interesting!
Adrian Belew - Big Electric Cat
(Mar 11, 2005 - 15:07)
Weird and wonderful. I saw him play with Bowie too back in the 90's, very talented guy.
Khachaturian - Sabre Dance
(Mar 01, 2005 - 16:30)
Love it!
Powderfinger - These Days
(Feb 24, 2005 - 14:23)
I like this band a lot, I have Aussie versions of two of their CDs. This version sounds different than the one on the Aussie CD, maybe it's remixed for the states or something?
Travis - Somewhere Else
(Feb 15, 2005 - 11:35)
The riff sounds like a ripoff of the one used in a Jefferson Starship song, I think it's called Jane?
The Treble Spankers - Popcorn
(Feb 07, 2005 - 15:20)
Wow you find the most obscure stuff! Love it. Takes me back to I think 1973???
Young Dubliners - What Do You Want From Me
(Feb 04, 2005 - 13:46)
I've been a fan of the dubs since I first saw them in I think 1994. Their site says they have a new CD due out next month and that the first single Touch the Sky is supposed to be available to radio stations now...any chance we can hear it??
Blasters - Little Honey
(Dec 29, 2004 - 16:26)
Love this band. Their live shows were so much fun.
Icehouse - Heaven
(Dec 28, 2004 - 16:03)
Great song, sucky performance of it. Much prefer the Talking Heads version...
Dr. Seuss - You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch
(Dec 22, 2004 - 13:59)
How about something from Bob Rivers? Jingle Hells Bells or Walking Round in Women's Underwear perhaps?
Porky Pig - Blue Christmas
(Dec 22, 2004 - 13:58)
Ok that is VERY funny.
Galactic - Bittersweet
(Jun 29, 2004 - 12:03)
Am I the only one that thought this was ZZ Top?
Bottle Rockets - 1000 Dollar Car
(Jun 22, 2004 - 14:07)
I've got a 1000 dollar car for sale. It's a great car. REALLY! Wanna buy it?
Bob Dylan - Things Have Changed
(May 18, 2004 - 14:05)
I'm glad that Dylan started enunciating again. I think he stopped doing that sometime in the 80's.
Steve Morse - Modoc
(Apr 22, 2004 - 12:03)
Great to hear Steve Morse on RP. This guy is an amazing guitarist.
Cheap Trick - On Top Of the World
(Apr 16, 2004 - 14:36)
I always liked these guys. Nice addition to the mix.
Toots & The Maytals - Still Is Still Moving (w/ Willie Nelson)
(Apr 02, 2004 - 10:59)
I actually kinda like this!
John Fogerty - I Saw It On T.V.
(Apr 02, 2004 - 10:53)
I must say that this sounds like just about every other John Fogerty song I've ever heard!
The Smithereens - Blood And Roses
(Apr 01, 2004 - 16:27)

Reminds me of the day (long ago) when MTV actually played videos (and videos that don't suck). I saw the video for this song (I think it was this song and not "Behind a Wall of Sleep") - it was from a movie if memory serves me correct. Had to go out and buy the album the next day...

Darlington are we the same person?! That was my experience exactly. I got hooked on the Smithereens after seeing their videos in the early days of MTV. I'm still a big fan of these guys, I'm surprised more people aren't into their music.
Howard Jones - Life In One Day
(Mar 18, 2004 - 10:51)
Does not belong on your fine station.
Young Dubliners - Rocky Road To Dublin
(Mar 17, 2004 - 09:39)
I highly recommend seeing these guys live if you get a chance. Very fun, high energy shows. http://www.youngdubs.com :D/
Blasters - Border Radio
(Oct 28, 2003 - 10:29)
What a great band from the 80's. These guys put on great live shows, serious energy. They reunited for a live album called Troublebound a couple years ago, great stuff.
Commander Cody - Hot Rod Lincoln
(Aug 14, 2003 - 11:24)
PLUEEEEZE play Cake's Stickshifts and Safetybelts along with this song! The similarities are striking.
The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)
(Aug 11, 2003 - 16:04)
At the the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney they played this song as the last place finisher in the speed walking competetion entered the stadium and crossed the finish line. I'll never forget that visual - 100,000 people on their feet, clapping and singing along to this song as that poor sap finished the race, hours after the medal winners came through.
Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper
(Jul 14, 2003 - 10:16)
Ok someone help me out here. I believe this version is actually a re-make of the original, done for some movie soundtrack or something? I remember hearing that the original BOC members got together like 20 years later to make this. Anyone know what CD this updated version is on? :???:
Shpongle - Dorset Perception
(May 28, 2003 - 11:06)
here here. Great groove this morning Bill. It's actually making me feel productive at work, quite an accomplishment.
Blood Sweat & Tears - I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know
(May 19, 2003 - 10:40)
This is the song that they always play on Letterman when Paul Schaffer gets "caped" by some celebrity. Funny stuff.
Nena - 99 Red Balloons
(May 13, 2003 - 16:10)
oh please no!!! Why is this song rated so high?!! Truly awful.
Junior Brown - Surf Medley
(Apr 08, 2003 - 09:20)
yuck, this is elevator music.
Boubacar Traoré - Sabati
(Apr 02, 2003 - 10:49)
I like it. This song and lots of other interesting ones are on a Putumayo compilation called Mali to Memphis. http://www.putumayo.com/cd_africa/mali_to_memphis.html
The Pretenders - Complex Person
(Feb 12, 2003 - 16:28)
Hmmm. I've been a fan of the Pretenders from day 1 but this song is far from their best. There are a couple of great ones on this new CD though, check out Lie to Me and Walk Like a Panther. Saw them live recently, great show.
Emmylou Harris - Goin Back To Harlan
(Feb 06, 2003 - 10:42)
So go already! Wow that is one repetitive song.
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
(Jan 24, 2003 - 15:32)
nope, don't like it.
Natalie Merchant - Space Oddity
(Jan 20, 2003 - 15:56)
Yuck.
Johnny Cash - Personal Jesus
(Dec 09, 2002 - 10:57)
I think it's brilliant! Johnny Cash has so much class. All four of his most recent releases (the American series) are just amazing. I became a fan after hearing them.
Midnight Oil - Antarctica
(Dec 06, 2002 - 15:35)
I am so sad that the Oils are no more. What an amazing band! An impressive 25 year go at it.
Young Dubliners - Salvation
(Sep 04, 2002 - 10:35)
Cool song, GREAT band. Go see these guys live if you have a chance, they put on a great show.
Wolfstone - The Apropriate Dipstick
(Jun 19, 2002 - 16:28)
Yep...nice. I also recommend the Young Dubliners, http://www.youngdubs.com/ They put on a pretty amazing live show.
Temple Of The Dog - Hunger Strike
(Jun 17, 2002 - 11:34)
No no no!!! This commercial crap doesn't belong on this fine station.
Lost at Last - Diamond Body
(Apr 19, 2002 - 12:28)
Saw these guys at Burning Man last year. Great show, great "venue"!
Sublime - Santeria
(Apr 08, 2002 - 16:27)
Sucko-barfo commercial radio crap. Doesn't belong on your fine playlist.
Glen Phillips - Fred Meyers
(Feb 28, 2002 - 14:19)
I'm a huge Toad fan and I've seen Glen perform solo. In fact I saw him perform this song a couple years ago, shortly after he wrote it. Having a little trouble getting into it though...I guess I just prefer the deeper/darker music that Toad made.
Big Brother And The Holding Company - Piece Of My Heart
(Feb 20, 2002 - 13:49)
This song is one of the reasons I turned off commercial classic rock radio and came to Radio Paradise. Please don't play it again. It is very tired.
Fatboy Slim - Praise You
(Feb 08, 2002 - 15:26)
Uggg...I say this song doesn't belong on your station.
Jimmy Page & Robert Plant - Kashmir
(Feb 04, 2002 - 11:28)
Boy, they butchered this song.
Midnight Oil - Tone Poem
(Jan 28, 2002 - 14:26)
Thanks for giving this new Oils CD some airplay! It's funny how they are total legends in Australia but Americans mainly know them for one hit in the 80's, Beds are Burning.
Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance
(Jan 18, 2002 - 15:43)
I just don't think this song belongs on this station. If I wanted this I would listen to "way back 80's" night on my crappy local station!
Midnight Oil - Golden Age
(Jan 03, 2002 - 14:53)
Woo Hoo! New Midnight Oil! Thanks for playing this. Always great to hear new stuff from the Oils. :D
Cake - I Will Survive
(Dec 28, 2001 - 11:22)
Thanks for playing such a wide variety of Cake music. I love these guys. Their version of I Will Survive is outstanding!
Cake - Arco Arena
(Dec 27, 2001 - 15:45)
Glad that you're playing several songs from Cake's new CD...I think it's one of their best! I really like Long Line of Cars... :D
Powderfinger - My Happiness
(Dec 17, 2001 - 11:41)
Thanks for playing Powderfinger. These guys are huge in Australia but they get no airplay here in the states. Another Aussie band that you may want to check out is the Whitlams... http://www.thewhitlams.com/ They are also huge in Oz but mostly unknown here.
