Joe Bonamassa - Stones In My Passway
(Sep 05, 2012 - 17:21)
Man, some of you are so jaded.
Have you seen the Joe Bonamassa's Royal Albert Hall concert on Palladia?
He's a fucking badass.

Roy Orbison - In Dreams
(Jul 21, 2012 - 09:10)
Fuckin' Suave

The Beatles - You Never Give Me/The End
(Feb 14, 2012 - 17:12)
Oh wow! I think RP just earned a donation from your boy here.

Joe Satriani - Sleep Walk
(Jan 15, 2012 - 07:43)
{#Guitarist} Give it up for Satch!

The Knack - My Sharona
(Jan 14, 2012 - 16:29)
Eleven years old, just started to discover my "special purpose."

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
(Jan 10, 2012 - 05:12)
I would follow this up with some T-Rex.

Fleetwood Mac - Sara
(Jan 10, 2012 - 03:37)
Not the best song ever guys, I agree.
But not too shabby at 5:30am, while I sip on coffee and try to snap out of it.
Nice job Bill!

Ellis Paul - Sweet Mistakes
(Jan 10, 2012 - 03:35)
I'll need Shallow Hal's Tony Robbins goggles to enjoy this song.

Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
(Jan 07, 2012 - 18:48)
This is a really good song. Really good performance. I was wrong about Amy Winehouse.

Led Zeppelin - Fool In The Rain
(Jan 05, 2012 - 17:25)
I'm always up for the mighty Zep.

Tracy Chapman - Three Little Birds (Live)
(Jan 01, 2012 - 08:16)
While we're at it, a guitarist is hitting wrong notes.
Lol, Happy New Year!

Eagles - Seven Bridges Road
(Dec 29, 2011 - 10:44)
I have to downvote this one to Hell.
It has nothing to do with you guys, enjoy the song all you want, it just makes me think of this local cover band (yuppie attorneys) who try, and I emphasize the word "try" to perform this song live.
These guys are the biggest bunch of douches ever, trust me.

Roy Orbison - In Dreams
(Nov 10, 2011 - 16:19)
Don't be a good neighbor to her. I'll send you a love letter straight from my heart, fucker!

The Beatles - And Your Bird Can Sing
(Nov 02, 2011 - 17:18)
I read that when Danny Gatton learned to play this song, he assumed it was only one guitar playing the lead riff. He was that awesome.

Yes - Long Distance Runaround & The Fish
(Oct 30, 2011 - 20:20)
I've had a lot of wine and a really good night over here, listening to RP while enjoying my backyard fire pit. I'll spare you the on...and on...Thank you for playing this song!

Peter Gabriel - Feeling Begins
(Aug 20, 2011 - 08:51)
For Sexy Time music, this soundtrack cannot be beat.

Rodrigo y Gabriela - Stairway to Heaven
(Aug 15, 2011 - 17:13)
I guess it'd be okay to play this version in the guitar shop.

Air - Mer Du Japon
(Aug 11, 2011 - 19:20)
Love Air. Love 'em.

Now may I suggest throwing some Air France into the mix?

The Shins - Sleeping Lessons
(Oct 17, 2008 - 08:16)
 ellenaut wrote:
remember: "You're not obliged to swallow anything you despise" This song does more for my spiritual hygiene than most in recent past. My 10's are usually reserved for things that I've loved for a long time, but this one makes the grade today.
 redtex wrote:

I come here to listen to music. If I want to read the lyrics I'll head for the library.
I stuck through the entire song (again) and still not getting it. But I will suffer the few flaws of the playlist as the positives of RP far outweigh the negatives.

I agree with you ellenaut, this song is helping me get motivated to leave a really, really bad job.

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
(Oct 17, 2008 - 08:14)
Some of you are still hating on this song huh?

Big Head Todd & The Monsters - Brother John
(Aug 28, 2008 - 14:05)
Whoa, 90's flashback.
I took my wife to see this band, we'd just started dating.
Good times...

R.E.M. - Until The Day Is Done
(Aug 28, 2008 - 13:15)
R.E.M. kind of lost me after "Fables" but they've got me back with "Accelerate."

Robbie Robertson - Somewhere Down The Crazy River
(Aug 22, 2008 - 14:34)
 renegade_X wrote:
Whoa! Is that TEDDY PENDERGRASS singing the backing vocals?

It's one of the Bodeans.

Elvis Costello - Peace, Love and Understanding
(Aug 22, 2008 - 14:08)
Let's see, prolific song writer, signature Jazzmaster, signature Gibson Jumbo, married to Diana Krall...lucky bastard!

David Gray - Babylon
(Aug 22, 2008 - 13:35)
I thought this was Ryan Adams.

Chris Whitley - Big Sky Country
(Aug 22, 2008 - 11:05)
I saw Whitley near the end, at a place called the Blue Door in Oklahoma City.
It's the kind of place where you can byob and is extremely intimate.
So me and a bud were hanging around outside before the show and Whitley walked right up and bummed a smoke.

Feist - I Feel It All
(Aug 19, 2008 - 13:19)
I could swear I saw Feist in Taco Bueno today.

Ray LaMontagne - Empty
(Aug 19, 2008 - 12:18)
My favorite song right now, a classic.

David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes
(Aug 04, 2008 - 12:06)

I like this tune too, duh.
The bass line if almost identical, just saying.

Peter Gabriel - Of These, Hope
(Jul 29, 2008 - 13:45)
Better than Ravel's Bolero, if you know what I mean.

Devo - Beautiful World
(Jul 24, 2008 - 14:47)
This is actually how I feel sometimes when shopping in Target and see all the plastic suburban wives, they all look the same!
And I realize, it's a beautiful world for them, not me.
Then I  remember to take my meds.

Sufjan Stevens - They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From The Dead!! Ahhhh!
(Jul 18, 2008 - 14:47)
Know what I do when I hear something I don't like on RP? I rate it accordingly and move on.

Psychedelic Furs - Heartbreak Beat
(Jul 18, 2008 - 14:25)
If you like the Furs, check out British Sea Power, they have a very furry vibe happening.
Leonard Cohen - The Future
(Jul 18, 2008 - 14:19)

Maybe I should have said, ''multiracist b*st*rd!'' since Canada is such a melting pot.

Just teasing anyway.
I like Canada.

Belle and Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap
(Jul 18, 2008 - 11:39)
What an efficient device.
Ali Farka Toure & Ry Cooder - Soukora
(Jul 18, 2008 - 11:07)
According to the liner notes, that's Ry Cooder playing a beautiful solo on a "toy guitar."

Reason number infinity why Cooder is the man.
Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day
(Jul 17, 2008 - 13:42)
I almost bought one of those Dean Backwoods 6 string banjos (tuned like a guitar) because of this song. But I played one and realized it sucked and would be kind of a silly thing to own.

Sufjan however, does not suck.

RP should play John Wayne Gacy, that would make for some interesting comments.
John Lennon - Watching The Wheels
(Jul 17, 2008 - 11:48)
On a roll with the playlist.
R.E.M. - Fall On Me
(Jul 17, 2008 - 11:46)
This was my favorite song on my favorite album as a new college freshman.

Good times.
Mick Jagger - Wandering Spirit
(Jul 17, 2008 - 09:05)
I dig Keef's solo stuff too, but I agree that some guidance from Mick wouldn't have hurt.

This discussion reminds me of Brian May's solo efforts, he could have used the guidance of Roger and Freddie in some areas - take "Cyborg" or "China Belle" for example.

It's good to hear these guys expressing themselves outside the norm.
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood
(Jul 15, 2008 - 09:30)
I don't think any other player felt it more than Vaughan, watch the Austin City Limits videos (especially pre-sobriety) and you'll see what I mean.

Bruce Springsteen - Girls in Their Summer Clothes
(Jul 14, 2008 - 14:49)
Yeah, this song rocks.
I can hear The Magnetic Fields in there somewhere...
Toni Price - Comes Love

This song is an important part of my "post mullet" teenhood.
Bruce Springsteen - I'm On Fire
(Jul 11, 2008 - 08:46)
I remember burning a needle into the grooves on this track.
Tracy Bonham - Something Beautiful
(Jul 11, 2008 - 08:39)
I have this on my "morning walk playlist," love it.

James McMurtry - Choctaw Bingo
(Jul 11, 2008 - 08:23)
You know, I listen to RP to make me forget I live in Oklahoma.

jk...good song

Scissor Sisters - Take Your Mama Out
(Jul 11, 2008 - 08:08)
Not usually my cup of tea, but I love this band.
Why? Cause you can't see tits on the radio, that's why.
Cheap Trick - Surrender

If you haven't yet, you gotta buy that soundtrack.
Steve Stevens - Sadhana
(Jul 10, 2008 - 14:01)
I read that Stevens laid down his electric guitar, all the pedals and played only flamenco style for a long period.

He also recorded and produced all of his "Flamenco A Go Go" album, writing all the music and playing nearly every instrument.

The man can play.

Neil Young - Powderfinger
(Jul 10, 2008 - 11:52)
Attacking the guitar you say?
How he doesn't break every string when he engages the bigsby amazes me.
Yes - Roundabout
(Jul 08, 2008 - 08:26)
Wakeman + Cape = Kick Ass
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon

Might I take a hit from your pipe my man?

Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues
(Jul 07, 2008 - 11:57)
There are so many everyday references from this song.

For instance, I stopped at my neighborhood 7-11 the other day, but couldn't put air in my tires because some low-level criminal had nicked the nozzle apparatus - simply cut it off the hose! This song immediately came to mind.

The Beatles - A Day In The Life
(Jul 07, 2008 - 11:51)
Perfection.
Fleet Foxes - Mykonos
(Jul 07, 2008 - 11:11)
keller1 wrote:
These guys are kinda derivative --- I for sure hear MMJ and CSN --- but so far I've been giving them good ratings.

When I listen to the new release, I hear Simon and Garfunkel in there too, which is a good thing.
Henry Mancini & His Orchestra - The Pink Panther Theme
(Jul 07, 2008 - 07:34)
Okay.

So back in the day, when Poison toured and actually played to huge crowds, bassist Bobby Dahl incorporated this song into his nightly "awesome" bass solo.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love
(Jul 03, 2008 - 13:35)
Brian played Roger Taylor's vintage Fender Broadcaster on the track.
Stellar as always.

Yothu Yindi - Dots On The Shells (w/ Neil Finn)
(Jul 03, 2008 - 13:02)
What the?

Hey, this is cool.

Alanis Morissette - Citizen Of The Planet

Alanis Morissette - Citizen Of The Planet

I like her, but I'm more of a Fiona man.
Supertramp - Breakfast In America
(Jul 03, 2008 - 12:17)
I'm feeling a lot of love in here, y'all are beautiful.
jk
Flaming Lips - In The Morning Of The Magician
(Jul 03, 2008 - 11:37)
Much love for my boys.
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon (live)
(Jul 03, 2008 - 11:26)
I am always up for tales of drunkenness and cruelty, and have many I could share.
The Pretenders - Stop Your Sobbing
(Jul 02, 2008 - 22:16)
Gotta stop your sobbing.

Stop.

Dumbass.

The Beatles - Across The Universe
(Jul 02, 2008 - 22:00)
I swear, I listened to this song on my Zune at roughly the same time today.

DUDE!
Adrian Belew - Young Lions
(Jul 01, 2008 - 08:57)
So many of you in radio land are not stretching out.

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal

I read that they recorded in a home studio, so yeah they would benefit from some outside expertise.
The Smiths - What Difference Does It Make?
(Jun 27, 2008 - 14:08)
C'mon, don't you at least find Morrissey's pomposity amusing?

The way he's always singing about being "ill" or "sickened" and describing things as "vulgar" and "vile" cracks me up.

Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)
(Jun 27, 2008 - 13:07)
Always nice to see guitarists using Music Man amps.

Great live band.
Pat Metheny Group - Last Train Home
(Jun 27, 2008 - 07:57)
There's a great jazz player in my town, Shane Conoway, who just nails this piece. He's a Metheny freak.
Very cool.

Depeche Mode - Dream On
(Jun 27, 2008 - 07:24)
Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand sounds a bit like Dave Gahan.

I'm just noticing that.
David Bowie - Under Pressure (w/ Queen)
(Jun 27, 2008 - 07:15)
I will always love Queen and Bowie.
This is a great song.
Please don't bring vanilla ass into this.

The Smiths - How Soon Is Now
(Jun 27, 2008 - 06:23)
You cannot fuck with the Moz.
Neither figuratively or literally.
Bob Marley - Exodus
(Jun 25, 2008 - 15:22)
While I agree, Marley is pretty overexposed, this song really hits the spot today, as I sit here, working late at the job I want to quit.
Death Cab For Cutie - Cath

Flaming Lips - Fight Test
(Jun 23, 2008 - 11:10)
Don't be hating.

Grateful Dead - Eyes of the World
(Jun 23, 2008 - 09:56)
My mama told me, if I don't have anything good to say...

I am out of here!
Death Cab For Cutie - No Sunlight
(Jun 23, 2008 - 09:50)
I like Deathcab, but this new record is not doing it for me.

The Bangles - A Hazy Shade of Winter
(Jun 23, 2008 - 09:29)
Remember when Susanna Hoffs got a Rickenbacker signature model and they made a poster?

That was a good poster.

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
(Jun 23, 2008 - 09:05)
I love those harmonies.

These guys are really young, they should only get better.
Bob Marley - Sun Is Shining
(Jun 23, 2008 - 08:52)
groovy
David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes
(Jun 18, 2008 - 05:42)
Love this song!

Interestingly, I also love "Stay Loose" by Belle and Sebastian.

Coincidence?
Monte Montgomery - When Will I
(Jun 18, 2008 - 05:40)
Sure, he can play.
But can he play tastefully?
I'm just saying less is more.
Neil Young - One of These Days

I loved "View from 3rd Street" and "Start the Car," really good songs on those records.

Flaming Lips - Are You A Hypnotist??
(Jun 03, 2008 - 07:50)
Drozd is a genius.
