Interesting, this is actually one of the few PJ songs I can stomach. To each her own |

Print out the lyrics to each. It is not self-evident that the lyrics to In My Life are any deeper than those to Wishlist. I'm sorry your worldview is so threatened by that observation. In My Life is a more general song. It expresses sentiments that are applicable to many different situations (which is also why it's a rather popular theme song for many high school proms). Wishlist is particular, each "item" on the wishlist is limited in its applicability (e.g. wanting to be like a neutron bomb, pedal brake, etc.). Each can be quite evocative. Your assumption that Wishlist is fit soley for a postcard IS your argument, not support for it. Sorry we disagree. I love both songs unapologetically, and I simultaneously understand why others would view either or both as saccharine. Sorry if that strikes you as pseudo-intellectual (don't forget the hyphen). |

Do you think it is a coincidence that immediately after noting that RP might not do much as far as a Valentine's Day theme goes Bill played the following songs?
9:12 am - Blind Melon - No Rain
9:09 am - Beatles - In My Life
9:06 am - Pearl Jam - Wishlist
Again, it's fine if you don't like Eddie Vedder's voice or if you aren't fond of the instrumentation, etc. However, if you're only objection is that the lyrics are too simple, I hope you're willing to say the same about In My Life. Otherwise, it's just a raw statement of what you find authentic and what you find maudlin. I don't think there's an objective criteria by which you can say the words to In My Life are more worthy than those of Wishlist (or No Rain). As for me, I love them all.

Everytime I hear this song, I cannot help but close my eyes, and relive the many emotions and memories that are forever connected to it for me. This is one of my favourite songs (not just by Pearl Jam, but in general) and most definitely is in my top 5 of...dare I say...love songs. A simple song of incredible beauty.

Although, they do sound a lot like Bad Company. Maybe that's why I like them.

i was around when the music of the 60's and 70's was being made and it cost $20.00 for a concert tix. but these guys fucking ROCK. they are some of the better bands to come out of the 80's that can not only write music but lyrics AND having staying power. eddie vedder's voice is from another universe!!!!!!!

it was in fact a 70's camaro - it was a gesture to his then wife beth, who drives/drove an old camaro
the mirror ball they used last tour was fantastic - not your typical square mirrored tiles, but rather all different shapes of mosaic mirror glass
*sigh*
for anyone out there who cares, they just announced 2005 canadian tour dates |
