No no no, this is commercial C&W nonsense, and in no way is this criticism a slur on white southern country music with a twang in the accent, as demonstrated by a load of great stuff heard on RP (like Johnny Cash), and other stuff that isn't, but should be (like Eric Taylor)

Meh.
Good guitar playin' almost saves this, but the lyrics and singin' 'style' are the kind that gives country music a bad name.
There's plenty of country music I can like, but this ain't it.
Nice geetar feedback effects at the end too. I'm willing to give his other tunes a listen if RP plays 'em, but if it's gonna be more of that I'm a bad boy type lyrics, meh.

Fair enough, apologies on the art-*** statement. I retract it. Also, if the guy is an armed felon, and I really don't know about his personal life, he is a dirt bag, plain and simple -just like a rapper who advocates killing police officers. Nothing to do with where he is from, his skin color, favorite brand of breakfast cereal, etc. I do have a predjudice against dirt bags. But if he wants me to pray for him, I will. |

Damn shame. Eddie was only married about a year, to a girl who worked at The Saxon Pub, back when it was my home-away-from-home. Everyone was pretty broken up about it, but at the same time, everyone knew the demons he battled. It took a long time for Billy Joe to recover: it was nearly the final straw in a life full of tough times.

Billy Joe Shaver is the MAN. Ain't everybody's cuppa, that's for sure, and this isn't my fave of his, but Mr. Shaver is the definition of a tough ol' country boy.
He has an advanced degree from The School of Hard Knocks: his life story makes Job look like a piker. He's still kickin' though.
This tune is mighty countrified, but he can rock out with the best of 'em. Shaver is the real deal.
