I saw Haven's at McCabe's Guitar Shop (check this place out if in SoCal) in Santa Monica a few years ago and he was phenominal. This is a great live version of Here Comes The Sun.

His version of "Elanor Rigby" puts something like this to shame.

Well he's still at it - i saw him live at the Jazz Cafe, london in april '03. While he was re-tuning & re-string his guitars all the time he told crazy old hippie stories. Great musician - great tune

I was in the shower this morning thinking that my wife doesn't like the late '60's - '70's rock (more of an '80's type -- me too, actually). Then I thought she has never seen "Woodstock". Haven's work in that movie may change her mind. One of the great voices of all time -- emotive, powerful and energetic -- this guy genuinely feels what he sings.

To those interested in Richie Havens, aside from the Rhino collections, you'd probably like "Mixed Bag I", "Mixed Bag II",
"Something Else Again", for starters ...

I remember this tune, performed by someone else, in some significant scene in some movie I saw ages ago. It created the mood perfectly - what is the movie and artist I'm thinking of? Can anyone help me?

I think you're referring to Eric Idle on Saturday Night Live? j/k
