Would still love to hear the live version from A Night in San Francisco on RP. He blew the lid off this old classic. We don't hear enough live tracks on RP, come to think of it.

I've been wanting to say that for quite some time now. Thank you for letting me get it off my chest. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
Here, here. I second this person's emotions. |

This is what "mainstream" radio has done to you. It has soured the ears of the popular radio listener to the point where anything classic, even if it's brilliant, is derided due to overplay.
This song is, was, and always will be a 10. No matter how much it's played, as are so many other songs that listeners here detest for having heard too often.
It's not the fault of the song that you heard it too often and now are tired of it. And I for one am seriously sick of hearing about how sick you all are of songs for which you couldn't be bothered to turn the radio off/down after you've heard it played to your heart's content.
Deal with it and move on. RP plays these songs because for one thing, it adds to the pleasure of hearing new and aurally challenging ones when the "classic" and time-tested ones are thrown into the mix.

WOW! You read my mind. I just want to tell some people to get a life, and worry about real things. |

I saw Van about 18 months ago in LA. He was very engaged and fantastic. I'd heard all the horror stories, but was very pleased with my "investment." (It ain't cheap).

Not a word or even a gesture of acknowledgement to the audience all night (all night being a paltry 90 minutes; 7:30 sharp to 9pm sharp). He was clearly just going through the motions and counting the minutes til he could get back to his hotel room and be grumpy all by himself. Not sure what his problem was, but he definitely wasnt there to have a good time. Too bad. Wish Id stayed home.
thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of going. Now I'm not. |

Easily a 9...but I had to fight with myself (like Dr. Strangelove) to keep it from a 10. I just might be changing that 9...

This happened to be playing in the background as our one and only daughter was born. Cool doctor, cool music, and thus a cool kid.

Interesting: another guy said this was playing in the background when his daughter was conceived. Looks like Van the Man has all bases (basses) covered--especially third base. |
