I love this song, although it is not my favourite Van Morrison one. Still a great one. "Moondance" was my first Morrison album. I'm getting "Astral Weeks" next.

I agree, I can't help falling in love all over again when it comes on. It is played quite a bit and I can see where some would grow tired of it but I am just not one of those people!

You really cannot overplay this one. It's just such a classic. BTW, you might want to check out the new album from Van, who is now recording for the Blue Note label It's great!

I agree there are many other underexposed Van tracks. "Enlightenment" and "Real Real Gone"; "Satisfied" ("Summertime in England", though 14 minutes, would be cool to hear) and certainly "Jackie Wilson Said". Lots of good Van songs. And I haven't checked but would guess some of those mentioned are in the RP library. Maybe just a smidge more Van airplay in Paradise would be the means by which the Van songbook is more fully opened.

Regardless, "Moondance" still works for me as programmed here.

Are you guys all on crack? This is one of the great songs of the 20th Century. Overplayed... certainly. But so are the Beatles. Great is great, regardless of how often it's played.

maybe it's not his greatest tune but it is sure nice to keep motivated with a great tune from a great artist at 4pm on a Tuesday!

You MUST play this song in early October, maybe right after some harvest moon songs...

Great to hear this song in the original version, after so many worse-than-average big bands mutilated it in the last years...



Hey - Purple Haze is definitely better than so-so!

Van Morrison is great and all, but why is this mediocre song the only one of his that ever seems to get played? "Jackie Wilson Says," for example, is far superior, and he has a vast collection of other material to choose from. Let's keep RP away from the "Purple Haze" syndrome of commercial radio wherein only one so-so song acts as representative an artist's entire career.

Can this morning get any better??? We've had the Stones "Can't Always Get What You Want" and now this! :-)

I LOVE Van Morrison....however.
I am glad he had this song to be able to pay for all the other better stuff that he was able to do. Sort of how the royalties from "Gentle on my mind" allows John Hartford to do whatever he wants.
There are better mixes. I particularly like the Van Morrison/Georgie Fame version. But overall I like other VM much better.

Makes me want to rent a room overlooking the ocean (pimp)

Oh, for gods' sake. This song has been overplayed for about 20 years now. And it's not even an especially good song--even Van Morrison calls it "sh*t." Could we dispense with it here, please? If I want to hear overplayed, overrated rubbish like this, I can turn on the classic rock station on the radio.
