IF you look at the essence of rock-n-roll —soaring themes, wild abandon, the pacing— this song has it! Plenty of talent and Vedder's voice doesn't hurt either! Turn it up!

I feel exactly the same way. I had always dismissed Pearl Jam as "heavy metal" and never bothered to listen to any of their music. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the Into the Wild songs here on RP, so much that I purchased the CD. I have loved listening to it and have come to realize that Eddie Vedder is an amazing talent and that I have missed a great deal over the years. |

They must have gone to California. Right Robert, Jimmy, John Paul and Bonzo?

If somebody came to one of my many Canadian homes, and started trash-talking Canada or English-Canada or French-Canada, I would listen attentively to see if he was as good or better than well known comedians who already trash talk the above places or linguistic, pseudo-ethnic groups.
I'm always pleasantly surprised when somebody takes the time and effort to trash talk mine. Anybody who trashes Texas, does it because Texas counts.
In my view, he ripped you off because he was drunk and undisciplined. I remember going to a couple of concerts like that in the early 70s (Syrinx, Sly and the Family Ston ED ).
When the performers practice hard, exercise regularly, avoid self-medication, and get some sleep, it shows.

Absolutely brother - see below from Billboard mag in October of 2005
"As the last date on its current tour, the band looked a little beat. But the fun was ratcheted up during the second encore, as "Given to Fly" segued into its melodic inspiration, Led Zeppelin's "Going to California," which Plant and two members of his band the Strange Sensation performed beautifully" |

yeah i hear ya. if he came to your state and started goin on about how much it sucked you'd be laughing or at least chilled out like the rest of us were for a while. when it goes on for more than a minute or so you get the idea that he really is bein an a*$ and not a comedian.
let's not forget that he decided to sling the contents of an entire bottle of red wine into the audience, mid drunken rant. just the fact that he's this sloppy drunk lets me know that he dosn't care i paid to come see him perform even if i am on the lawn. and how about the people who paid for good seats and got hosed with vino? maybe you'd just laugh it off, i dunno. (i've seen gwar, i prepared to get hosed with the "meat machine" and enjoyed gettin disgusting at their show). this is not gwar. this is middle aged eddie vedder bein a douche.
the only thing he played the whole night was their "riot act" album that had, literally, come out 3 days before the show and "given to fly" (which is what triggered my rant in the first place).
what a hilarious night. ha ha. i paid 40 bucks for a show that probably didn't last an hour and a half. all the while this guy i've admired since my pre-middle school days is actin like a tool.
he did encore with rockin in the free world, so that was cool, but overall it's one of the 3 most dissapointing shows i've ever been to.
p.j. and e.v. still have songs i love. so yeah, diazo, yuk it up cause the joke's obviously on me.
 Excellent ranting! Well done!
My highest rated PJ song? Maybe.

like many PJ songs, this one tells a human story of emancipation. lyrics are worth reading, maybe your impression of the song will improve

Hard to believe Mr. Vedder overlooked all of Texas' finer qualities. Like Texans' great sense of humor.

here's a thought, next time skip us cause i doubt that any of us who were booing you (most of us) would pay 5 bucks to see you again (unless you were in an antbed).
by the way you owe me 40 bucks.
