Can we just have a few moments of silence after this song?

This song depresses me because it reminds me of how much I loved their earlier music (e.g., Uplift Mofo Party Plan) and how bland they would become.

You are all wrong, the song is about living under a bridge, as all the heroin adicts end up there.

I also could easily never hear this one again.

This song was compiled from Anthony's journal entries as he was overcoming heroin addiction. I find it incredibly powerful.

Love this. Great snapshot of the era. Great guitar doodling.

I always assumed this song was about LA and the LA riots and about how he lost the city that he loved and it would never be the same.

I dont ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way

This song was written before the riots happened. This CD was released in October 1991; the L.A. riots happened April 1992.

Hmmm...let's see (random chronology) Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Creed, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Def Lepperd, Chicago, Herman's Hermits...I could go on--there are MANY bands who are REALLY relentlessly crappy and overplayed. Chili Peppers isn't(aren't?) one of them.

Though this would be the last song from this album that I would play, the album is awesome.

There's only one secret in Rock'n Roll, in german we call it "schnabbeldizupf".
The Chilli Peppers know it!
Got it?

Norah Jones started a downward spiral from such great heights.

7:54 am - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge
7:50 am - Tom Waits - Heartattack And Vine
7:46 am - Shawn Colvin - (Looking For) The Heart of Saturday Night
7:43 am - Norah Jones - The Long Way Home
7:40 am - Toots & The Maytals - Reggae Got Soul
7:38 am - The Blasters - I'm Shakin'
7:33 am - James Horner - Sing, Sing, Sing
7:29 am - Dandy Warhols - Plan A
7:24 am - Ben Harper - Faded

I went from cranking the stereo/computer to turning off the stream in 4 songs. I wouldn't have it any other way. RP rules!

Ahh yes, I remember this tune being way over played on FM. Have no idea why Bill thought it necessary to play it again on Radio Paradise. ? I'd rather the over commercialized pop stay out of here.

I also heard that this entire album was recorded in a house, with each musician in a different room. The house was on a hill, and Kiedis was facing out towards the city as he belted out all these songs. Pretty cool, eh? This album is very, very special.

That's women from his mom's church singing at the end of this. His mom may even be one of them.

I've liked the RHCP ever since I got their self-titled cassette tape too many years ago. No, this isn't musical genius, but it's original, meaningful, and soulful. Overplayed or not, Under the Bridge is a 10 in my book.
