Anthony Kiedis does a perfect job at screwing up the pitch on the words "feel" and "love" in the chorus. Oh so beautifully sharp on those. It's a real dinger. Hard to listen to that when it happens. Hard to believe that this is acceptable. Being a-tonal is not something I value much. The rest of the tune is pretty good. I like other tracks off of this album better.

Well it got overplayed (by myself, mostly), but when you haven't heard it in ages - as I haven't - and it suddenly comes on, it really hits the spot. |

My favorite Red Hot Chili Peppers song, by far. I love the way the vocal line and the guitar interact.

This song stirs so many positive memories for me and always gets me singing. Going to check to see if I still have this cd and give it a listen.

Oddly enough, I'm not so sure this was ever intended to be a "hit" when it was written & recorded. Who knows. Listen to the rest of this album...their magnum opus, me thinks. The interplay between Frusciante's guitar licks, Flea's bass lines, and Chad's drum work bring me back to this CD on a regular basis. |

Red Hot Chili Peppers 1987 by ~jamesrafferboy
James Rafferty ©2006-2010 ~ jamesrafferboyThis photo of the Red Hot Chili Peppers was taken in 1987, after their third studio album 'The Uplift Mofo Party Plan'. This photo would have been taken just before the tragic death of Hillel Slovak, ex-guitarist, middle right with the fingers . After his death, the drummer, Jack Irons, far right, quit the band after suffering from severe depression due to Slovak's death. The following year, Anthony Kiedis (middle left) and Flea (far left) intended to keep the band going in honour of Slovak, so they hired present-day Red Hot Chili Pepper drummer Chad Smith, and present-day guitarist John Frusciante, and then in 1989 they recorded 'Mother's Milk' which eventually reached Gold (500,000 sold) and was their best-selling album. Now it is 'Californication' which reached multi-platinum. I could go on so Ill stop there. Byeee!! |

As guitar player, I enjoy this song and appreciate the technique. Not a fan of Anthony Kiedis' singing, but this is my favorite RHCP song. |

Maybe the most over-played of the greatest songs i know, at least in Europe. 8/10. Great album that is.
