A 10 regardless. http://www.faqs.org/lyrics/Sarah-McLachlan-Possession.html That puts another slant on the lyrics. Until reading that I'd assumed that it was a love song from her to another she adored, though I still think it works as that as well. As the page you quote above says: Despite the dark inspiration behind the lyrics, many fans have embraced ``Possession'' as a love song coming from the perspective of a female that truly wants to claim the object of her desire. Words written from the perspective of an obsessed male stalker can apparently be seen as passionate when sung from a woman to a male. To which I'd have to agree. If a woman felt this about me (fat chance!) I'd see it as passionate, but also somewhat disturbing. I suppose there's a thin line between infatuation and obsession... |

If you like this song check out the live version. You can feel the energy and it has a nice outro that is missing from the studio version.

If you want to achieve that ambition, here's a tip: be less aggressive. This song and singer really get me there - full of real passion. 8 from the Nottingham jury. |

Why does this song raise goosebumps? Oh yeah, that's why.
Fumbling towards ecstasy, indeed.

You are correct in that I interpreted that particular lyric incorrectly although I still agree with the original post to which I commented and do like her work as a whole. As an aside, it's always entertaining to read banal comments masked, unsuccessfully, as biting humor. |

But I feel offensed, anyway! Cynaera - "south of Neandertal" is where you write from, you say! You should sit write next to me, then. I am writing from just 25 miles south of (THE REAL) NEANDERTAL! Maybe that fact alone - and not the "real me" - is responsible for my (especially recently) "too-often-overboard" commentaries? I still believe I am a nice boy! SERIOUSLY! |

I confess - I am SO burned out on Sarah McLachlan! I'd love to not hear a single song of hers for a few months - well, and then I'd miss her voice and wish for something of hers....
For now, though, I'm muting this one. No offense.

I agree. Her best song by far..Thought she was going to continue her career with edgy material cause her voice is very distinctive..But she's played in the mainstream river of easy listening..
