I kinda like that too, plus the AM-radio static at the very opening. I read the story behind the song (link quoted below) and it imbued me with a new sense of appreciation for this.

I think Fastball should get the credit they diserve for the "low-fi" intro section to this song. Listening to this song again, it struck me how many times I have heard this techno-gimmick. Sing about a verse worth of the song at the start with a low-fi/mono sound, then cut to post-production stereo at the chorus.

It works to an extent, but I think a gimmick like this is part of why the song can be "looked down on", even aside from the over-play on the radio.

I'm rambling, and I will shut up now. :-#

I guess some songs mean something to some people and others don't get it.

This song IS totally my parents - lifetime adventurers. I know someday, I'll get that call and have to fly to some little corner of some desert in Mexico to take care of the wreck and final arrangements. This song celebrates theirs and others adventurous sprits, and has been preparing me that day for years.

Actually by "here" I meant physical location, not RP, but probably last heard about the same time...

This reminds me of my childhood's car trips to our summer cottage on hot summer days in a car without climate control. Still a pretty nice tune, one of those I always remembered but whose name I always forgot (until i found RP with streaming song titles of cource ;) )

Really not bad for what I considered a cheesy song.

Dang, I sure am glad I don't listen to the radio stations that the people below me listen too. I like this song and didn't find it overplayed at all on its release. It gets a 9 from me.

ok it's fun, but it pisses me off just the same 'cause the Cruzados should've had a hit like this. They did the whole genre better. (if anyone has a g-damn clue who the hell the Cruzados were)

i never used to like this song, but eventually realized it is quite well-written as are alot of their other songs. they have an incredible way with a melody, but never looked the part of a pop star so guess they'll have to settle for being good songwriters 8)
