This song makes me want to just curl up in bed with my boy and...dream. Seriously. And that's not a bad thing.

Surprised to see not a single comment to criticize this song for being a commercial hit. Happy and surprised I should say. The song is irresistable. How do listeners feel about the rest of CI? I really don't know his stuff.

Top tune. Hypnotic.
Don't listen to this album when you are driving at night. It spooked me out and I had to pull over as I was feeling all, well, queer!

Trivia: Remember the steamy b&w video with Helena Christensen? Many remember that Herb Ritts directed that video in 1991, but few remember it was actually the second video.
The first was directed by David Lynch (recently nominated for best director in this year's Academy Awards) in 1990, as it was featured in his current film at the time, Wild at Heart. It comprised mostly of Chris Isaak performing live with his band and clips from the movie, not quite as provocative as the following year's Herb Ritts video.
Chris was asked during an interview if anything happened between him and Helena Christensen when making the video. He said it was funny - - the director yelled action, she was all over him and sultry; but the director yelled "Take five" - - she scurried off to her dressing room as fast as she could and wouldn't be seen again until it was ready to film again. Poor Chris! |

This song makes me think of 2AM and kissing a mouth that tastes like gin and clove cigarettes.
(Which I haven't actually ever done, and I'm usually in bed by 10. But it makes me think of doing it.)

I believe it was "Wild at Heart". It was a David Lynch movie with Laura Dern and Nicholas Cage in the starring roles. In the video version, at the conclusion of the movie, there was a video of Isaak and his band performing "Wicked Game". This was my first introduction to Chris and his music and I've been lovin' all of his recordings ever since. |

I've always liked this song. I also like most of his other stuff. I caught one episode of his TV show.... not so sure about that.
One might be inclined to call this a bit of a Roy Orbison ripoff. I like to think of it as more of a tribute.
