Wow, you've got that right. Before RP, I had to choose between quirky college format stations that hated all things popular, or pop stations that hated all things, well, not popular. Then came satellite and cable stations that zero in on one genre relentlessly. (I'm still waiting for the Stairway to Heaven channel. All Stairway to Heaven, all the time.) Thanks Bill. pevend wrote:Excellent song - an 8 by me. I'm glad that the opinions of the musical snobs don't keep RP from playing songs like this. |

god gawd bill - ENYA ? i worked in vegetarian restaurant in san diego for a few years and we were subjected to REPEATED listens of this (and the rest of the similar schmaltz offerings from their gift store) and it's like a bad burn on my brain. some of the cuts on this and other albums of hers weren't as cloying - but i feel like poking my eyes out when i hear SAIL AWAY... does bring up a host of good memories from those years, though... oh - i see - trying to redeem yourself with some nick drake straight after, huh ? not working. crime has been committed. but we still love you.

Wow, Enya on RP....really? I mean, really? Not that I don't like it, I'm kind of ambivalent about it, but...really?

Enya annoys me but this song was playing at the snackbar at the bootcamp from where we saw my brother off on his tour after he graduated.

I know I should probably hate this, but since it makes me think of the movie "L.A. Story" I just can't.

You've obviously never listened to her other stuff! This, yes...is too commercial....but hey, she has to be recognized somehow by the rest of the droggs! |

My Father's taste in music tended toward Glen Miller, Mine are otherwise different.
One day, driving along, here comes Enya.
"Dad, listen to this one time, you might like it, I sure do."
Well, Alear, I'm glad to hear that you've matured, and can appreciate a fine tune. (Said he.)
And well then Dad (said I), I'm interested to hear you say that not everything I listen to is junk.
My only musical bonding with John Walter Cooper. RIP Sir.

I'm not rating this. Heard it enough. It's interesting to see the cross-section of comments. Predictably, those who concur, those who are throwing up. The perils of listening to RP. I've only heard one Dengue Fever track since noon, I think. Now, THAT'S a victory.

First time I heard this, I'd fallen asleep (probably passed out actually) with the radio on, in my li'l ol' boat, so it kinda became a theme song. Unfortunately I never got to sail away in her. Otherwise I'd have to say... I don't like Enya |

It's schmaltzy, overblown, repetitive, and I STILL like it. :-)
Bill should play "Pumping Iron for Enya" by 'Atom and His Package' after this. ^_^

I'm fine with this song, but the one they kept playing on CNN for the 911 coverage makes me bawl like a little girl. I can no longer listen to it without thinking of that day and the news coverage.
