I'd forgotten how much I used to love Tori. Little Earthquakes.. I listened this tape into a violent death. Tear in Your Hand (i think) was my favorite. Dunno what was lost along the way... maybe something about artists that stare into the camera all spooky-like ;)

Easily one of the most eye-opening CDs I have ever purchased. And like some of you, it was the MTV video that did it. I saw only about 1/2 of it, and on the way home from class the very next day I bought it, and have never looked back. Also had the luck to be seated just a few rows away from her in Champaign-Urbana (was it '94?) for one of best concerts I have ever attended.
Amazing. Just amazing.

I'm guessing it was April 1993 when I saw this video on VH1 for the first time. Id' never heard of Tori before, but I saw that flaming red hair sitting at the battered upright piano, and I knew something was up. I went to my own piano across the room, started playing along to the bumblebee-tinkling riff, and had to stop from sheer amazement. Later that afternoon I bought the cd (it was in one of those long cardboard sleeves), and my life has never been the same. Thank you, Tori.

Now we finally learn why she sings so incoherently on her other songs--to hide the inanity of her lyrics. I think I was mocking lyrics like this in high school already, so that would put them at below a 9th grade level of quality.
