For all of the angst over this song, still a 7.6. A classic.

Isn't this from the album with "The incredible melting Peter Gabriel" on the cover? Or is it the rainy car? It's been about 20 years...

I always thought it was "She's so funkular."

And if funkular isn't a real word, it should be.

wow, a great tune! i can remember when i first heard it on the radio long ago- my first introduction to gabriel. classically cool.

The rumour I remember when this came out was that the original lyrics had been "Piss on the coons in the jungle". It's nice to hear a live version on RP with them reinstated.

You're not alone. "Jeux sans frontières" makes much more sense though. :-k

I don't really like Peter Gabriel's stuff too much, but this one would be good if I didn't hear it so often. It's not RP's fault though.

An insight from England on the Jeux Sans Frontieres line here. 'JSF' was a French (or Francophone Swiss? I'm not sure) television game of the 1960s/70s in which teams from towns and villages would compete against each other in totally crazy, slapstick games, often involving running around in medieval costumes carrying barrels of water on their heads etc. The English version, co-presented by rugby league legend Eddie Waring, was called 'It's a Knockout', hence PG's use of that phrase in the song. Time for a revival of the game, I think: writing this has brought back many happy memories of childhood Friday nights.

There's a Japanese version called "Takeshi's Castle." BTW, the Japanese version is now picked up by Spike TV as MXC ("Most Extreme Challenge") with snarky English "dialogue" dubbed atop the Japanese.

I've loved Peter Gabriel since the Genesis days. That said, there are so many other of his songs that I like better than this one.

Great tune, but why the Shaking the Tree version and not from the original PG (III) album? That was one of the first digital recordings, and quite possibly one of the best albums ever.
