Cool song but I like their song Venice Queen the best (as of late.)

I think that at this point this song actually survived commercial radio.. that is if you actually listen to comercial radio...I enjoyed myself..peppers are always good

i swear, i'm the only who hates this song. listen to better rhcp - scar tissue, soul to squeeze... this is whiny and makes no sense.

Where's that dancing banana icon when you need it...
PS: this might just be my favorite RHCP song ever... GOD it's nice that John Frusciante is back...

It seems to me that the songwriting became more important on later albums...trading in some of their flash and outlandishness for quality writing content.

Your second point is well taken-- bands do change with time. But why complain when someone says they like the early stuff better? It's only an opinion. I guess some are born to whine, others born to bore.

The video to this one was great. Anyone remember that? Wasn't it a sort of homage to German silent films? Very cool.

A lateral move for the boys. Not groundbreaking, just the Chillis flashin' the goods again.

Although I've always considered Flea an amazing bassist, I've never really liked these guys. Until this tune. This just goes to prove my music maxim 'no matter how much you may dislike a band or artist, if they stick around long enough, they'll put out something likeable'. Hell, I even like one, I say one, Billy Joel song.

I'm sorry, but I used to like these guys a decade ago (BSSM days), but as your ear mature's you really start to notice what's quality and what's not. The lead singer's voice is hopelessly expressionless and the edgy funk-riffs have morphed into airplay ballards for the masses. These guys rely on the commercial machine to punch out the same monotonous warble year on year where they used to have an edge, but sadly haven't adapted to the environment. Now they're just middle-off-the-roadkill, welcomed with open arms by the fellow Matchbox 20's of this world. Sad.

Your sad: They have evolved, matured and hell, turned into fathers over the years. Of course their music is going to change as well. RHCP fan for life.

:nodhead:

Thank you for saying that! I don't listen to the same music that I used to listen when I was 15... We change, we live different experiences and we express ourselves in many different ways... Why shouldn't bands do the same?

I saw the chili peppers in houston at the woodlands pavilion and they were great. They were the first live band I saw perform <1990 spring break daytona beach>. That was in support of their mothers milk album. I never saw human beings that free before and it changed the way I listen to music. I know a lot of people who don't like anything after blood sugar sex magik and feel that they sold out. I just think that, as with most everybody, you get older and wiser and don't feel the same way about life as you did in your teens and twenties. (unless you're david lee roth -- then it's all about 'tang 24/7) They just play what is in their hearts now and it shows up. I would recommend seeing them live to anyone. Believe me, they still ROCK. They do everything else, too.

Someone really needs to upload 'Soul to Squeeze' and 'Aeroplane'. Maybe I'll get around to it sometime...

Anyone remember "Fight like a Brave", they still had energy then, they don't even sound interested in doing this song.

One thing I can say for the Chili Peppers. Distinctive sound. But I have never, ever liked them. (I thought they might get better when Dave Navarro joined, but nah.) Glad he's back where he should be: with Jane's Addiction.

i think they explore other aspects of their music with this song, facing your demons, self-sabotage, downward spirals, etc., which alot of people can id with

A great, crazy, freakin', funkin' band, but most of their songwriting ain't any special (not much of the song got stuck in my mind, after the last note was played). Got the feeling they're glad they come to the instrumental part in which they can freak out.
