I like Sting, and this song as well. Unfortunately, I can't help thinking of the giant mess in the middle east with all the extremist Musslim groups, bent on distroying western society. I am always left with a bad taste in my mouth and deep rooting hatred for all of them.

Hey, take a deep breath and reboot, killer. And I'm a righty. BTW, Fox is no better than Air America, my lefty fellow RP lovers.

Quit watching Fox News - that'll help that whole "hate" thing a lot. Get to know a Muslim before you dismiss an entire region of the world. Educate yourself.

Haven't heard this song in a long time. Amazing how it retains its overplayed feeling.

Agreed, a bit. Sting is phenomenally talented, if not a bit big for his britches. This song has a certain arrogance to it. Beatiful muzak though.

Your stupidly superficial comment only made me realize once again how fortunate we are to have people like Sting, Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon, just to name a few of the famous ones, introduce us to other cultures in a peaceful way.

I'm not usually one to join the chorus but, when the shoe fits... And I have to say everybody who's replied to your comment before me is dead right!

Wow - I had long ago tired of Sting but when he released this song, I sat up and took notice. I went and bought several Cheb Mami cds and love them all. Funny. I heard this and went out and got a new Jaguar.

Yep, I'm with you; decent song, but the local radio played it to death. Also, this is not on the best of album -- might want to change the album cover.

I'm surprised no one on this thread has mentioned his "Bring On the Night" LP. That double disc set is one of the best pop live recordings of the past quarter century. In other words, Gordon had to sell out because the song was too lame for even MTV and pop radio. heh heh heh

In all seriousness though, I don't think product placement was what MTV had a problem with. Gordie does not reach their youth demographic anymore. They just didn't want to spell it out to him.

Either way, listening to him is like chewing on tin foil. :verysorry:

It's the best part of the song IMHO. To each his or her own, eh? Perhaps it's a cultural difference. I believe he is a well respected wedding singer in his country.

I, personally, LOVE this song and despite all his detractors, think Sting is a fabulous musician. As a classically trained musician myself, I appreciate his time signatures and different chord structures. Plus, he has a nice voice.

Let the bashing (of me) begin, for loving Sting.

Yeah, too bad there's not much there to be interested in these days. The Police had so much more of everything in my opinion.
