Not Richard's best song, but still a very good one. I guess you sorta got to be a 50's-ish, liberal arts, russian author reading, semiotic hipster to feel liberated by his depressing lyrics. But once you've drunk the koolaid, you'd understand. I've seen him live about 5 times in the last 7 or so years, and his shows are just like his albums. And that is unusual in these auto-tune days.

You're comparing apples to insulin. Diabetes is a physical ailment, not a mental illness (like depression) for which medication can be appropriate, or an emotional void caused by your own choices (like he's singing about). |
