Who said we have to rate on a bell curve? All Radiohead songs are pegged at 1, AFAIC. |

The Karma Police will undoubtedly sentence the band Radiohead to suffer an eternity in some hellish elevator somewhere with their own music being played incessantly until they rip their own ears off in horror.
By the way, I love all the Radiohead bashing in here. It helps me cope with the unexplicable popularity of this band...... |

Classic song. I love Radiohead.
I do find it funny however that MTV decided to loop the piano intro in basically every "True Life" episode |

Agreed.
My old acoustic band used to cover this tune. Translates nicely to a couple acoustic guitars. GREAT GREAT song. |

Interesting note: None of Radiohead's albums are sold on iTunes because the band wants their albums to be consumed in their entirety. I respect that, but wish we could still buy ONLY an entire album at a time on the iTMS.
To the record store to spend hours browsing.... |

No it absolutely cannot. Respect someone's taste please!
And look in the mirror
I gave it a 1. That reflects my taste of this song: I don't like it. But I don't like any song of radiohead.
Auto-Muted ...

Indeed.
culled from an interview with R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe
Q: Do you listen to a lot of other people's music while you're making a record?
A: Peter -- Peter Buck, my guitar player -- is the exact opposite of me with this. He absorbs music and books at a rate which I've never seen before. He buys 30 DVDs and CDs at a time. He goes to see live music, new bands, everything. But my fear is that I would steal something (from another artist) without knowing. (Laughs.) "I'm so brilliant... No, Polly Harvey is really brilliant, and I stole that from her!"
Q: Does that happen?
A: Absolutely. I write this song called Disappear, and then days later realized it was a Radiohead song called How To Disappear Completely. I called (Radiohead frontman) Thom Yorke and left him a message saying, "Thom, I think I stole your song," and he didn't call me back. I was so upset. Finally, a few weeks later, I heard from him, and he said, "Michael, that song came from a conversation we had four years ago!"
Q: So I guess that means you have mutual ownership of the idea, then?
A: Yeah. I don't feel so bad anymore.
That's Stipe in the Spotlight |

sure. take the Hail to the Thief CD for example...the title alone is in protest. if you have time you might check out more of the lyrics but here's a sample. it's in reference to a u.s. missile that hit an Iraqi bunker containing children in the first gulf war.
I Will
i will
lay me down
in a bunker
underground
i wonât let this happen to my children
meet the real world coming out of your shell
with white elephants
sitting ducks
i will
rise up
little babies eyes eyes eyes eyes
