This has always been a haunting song for me.
Heavy stuff, without the needless and artificial theatrics that would come later.

Well, there are those who want the line drawn at Honky Chateau.
I think those people need looser fitting boxers IMHO. <-X
And maybe you need to lighten up a notch on the musical belt too.

This song is real popular in Europe, especially right after the election.
And it has always been very popular with me. How can anyone rate this a One? Dyslexic? Or does your computer have a short bus?

Like where you rated Voodoo Child a One????
Sheeeesh! Now we understand your tastes a little better.
Just so there's no confusion. 10 means really good and 1 means very bad.
Ya can't please everyone...
Oh well, Good Luck with that...By the way, I rated the Queen song a 10 as well. :) |

Yeh, and check out the even more awesome "original" version with Mick Ronson on guitar from David Bowie's Ziggy Starbust band. It's a bonus track now on the Tumbleweed Connection CD. |

Try working out "Take me to the Pilot" - whats that about ?
I think this sentiment is very well put. The lyrical imagery alone is interesting enough for me when it's put to such compelling music. The early years of Elton John's songwriting ranks very high among my all time favorites. |

I certainly will not listen to anything he's done in the last 10 years (or so) - but this is a classic.

john and taupin have had their share of influence on the songwriters of today, so try listening to their stuff from the 70's, before he went mainstream  :D |

I completely agree. Even tho he's a pop mainstream composer now, you can see the brilliant composer in him in these young songs. |
