Found that she has a series of interviews explaining some of her songs... sort of a surprise as so many artists with heavy imagery don't want to pin the meaning down for others.  Very satisfying to go through them though if you are a fan.  The Queen and the Soldier story didnt' really satisfy my curiosity, but it was funny ;)

If the baby won't fall asleep, play some Suzanne Vega for it.  Any song will do, they're all the same.  That's enough to put anyone to sleep.  {#Yawn}

sigh. She's just wonderful.

And such an instantly recognizable voice.

Does she have kids? Nothing more obnoxious than a baby that won't fall asleep, and I can atest to that since my baby didn't fall asleep when I was holding her last night from 11:00pm until 12:30am. Holding her was difficult and frustrating, is that the lyrical intent?
I hope things are better now!

Having mastered a chunk of Leonard Cohen's repertoire and having come out on top, this woman can do no wrong.

I like this song too.

My favorite SV song from my favorite SV album. (And yes, I love "Luca")

But this song just gets me. Maybe because I'm a bit of a gypsy. But something about her voice, her lyrics, the delicate intricacies of the music...

When will we listen to "My Name is Lucas"? Gypsy is a good song. Boy, what happened to her? Haven't listened to anything new in ages!!!

I know, I just dropped the average rating by .1 and feel a bit guilty about it.

No. The lyrical intent is that you didn't let go.

I really don't want to start a debate here...it belongs on parenting message boards....
...but I couldn't help but say: if a baby is forced to cry itself to sleep night after night, they may learn to fall asleep on their own, but they also learn mistrust.
Just my opinion.

based on intuition and this info

So this has a certain poignancy to me, too, although it probably wasn't the "lyrical intent" to make a daddy get nostalgic.

As Long as its every night you can..I have 2 girls and on special nights when they get to stay up they sometimes fall asleep in daddy's arms. I'll do it as long as I can

I love this girl. Its a touch of nostalgia and comfort at the same time. Reminds me of a warm fireplace on a cold London day....smiles on faces, and cups of tea!
