I like the mellotron part, but the rest, not so much. Give us some Starless. Now thats some good King Crimson.

Steve Hackett does a wonderful version of this with Ian McDonald on his live Tokyo Tapes (along with John Wetton, Chester Thompson, and Julian Colbeck)

I'd have a hard time defining a genre for Eno. Perhaps Experimental encompasses his work but that's too broad for me to call a genre.

This album awakened me to think beyond the small town mentality I'd grown up in, sparked a great evolution.

Yeah, maybe to some.

I never listened to KC, Yes, early Genesis, ELP, Stawbs, Moody Blues while buzzed on LSD, mescaline or San Pedro cactus.

Too much happening man.

P.S. There is some excellent music on this album, e.g., Epitaph, that merits more air play.

So what's to be made of their collaborations? No pussyfooting? evening star? Exquisite when in the mood. Let's hear more of KC's '71-'75 catalog on RP!

Dated but path-breaking.

Play it more often!

Alright is this one of the songs that influnced Stephen King to write his Gunslinger series?

The first influences for "The Gunslinger" were spaghetti westerns, an epic poem by Robert Browning, and Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Mention of the Crimson King in Stephen King's work doesn't come until he wrote Insomnia, and tied elements of that book's setting and plot in with the Dark Tower series. Of course, he may have gotten the idea from this song at that point, but at that point he already had three or four Dark Tower books written and published. Later mention of the Crimson King is one of the things that had to be addressed in the revised "Gunslinger".

This music is fantastic and remarkable. However, I have the album cover framed and up on the wall in my living room.....it captures your attention as much as the music!!

1969, a very auspicious number. Years later we'd call it prog-rock. At the time it was the epitome of the chesterfield and revolving ceiling era.

Altho this is still a stunning album, at the time of it's release, it was sublime. It was one of a few albums that sent me on a musical journey that has just never ended.

Oh, yeah...I believe this is the first time I have heard this on RP...all these years --3? 4? -- wow -- but here it is, as it well should be...
This is right up there...Pink Floyd...Moody Blues...The Beatles...you know, the ORIGINAL music to trip to!
Thanks for knowing when to play the new stuff
and when to trot out, dust off, and shine up the old!
